About Stranger Creative:
Stranger Creative is a digital design studio based in New York City, partnering with ambitious brands across finance, tech, and commerce. We specialize in product design, design systems, and digital experience — building the infrastructure that helps complex organizations design at scale.
We also believe that design should be an equitable practice – that’s why we started our own nonprofit organization, QTBIPOC Design, empowering underrepresented communities to excel and thrive in design careers.
What makes us different:
We are a tight-knit team of creatives looking to change the way we work in a more sustainable, thoughtful, relationship-first approach. We love what we do and want to work with other passionate individuals.
Stranger Creative was born during the pandemic in 2020 and has grown to a remote-first team that's spread out across the US and Colombia.
About this role:
We're looking for a senior designer with deep expertise in design systems to join our core team. You'll be the primary systems thinker on active client engagements — taking complex enterprise brand guidelines and translating them into scalable, production-ready design systems that span every digital and physical touchpoint: websites, social media, paid media, email, and print.
- 40% Product Design & Design Systems
- 40% Visual & Brand Design
- 10% Research & Strategy
- 10% Presentation
You're someone who gets genuinely excited about token architecture, component variants, and auto-layout edge cases. You've built libraries that other designers actually love using. You can hold your own in a client presentation and translate system decisions into business rationale without losing the room.
What you’ll be doing:
- Translate enterprise brand guidelines into comprehensive design systems: token structures, typography scales, color systems, spacing, and component libraries
- Build and maintain Figma libraries with variables, tokens, and components structured for multi-channel use (web, social, email, paid media, print)
- Develop Canva brand kits and templatized asset systems that extend the design system to non-designer users
- Create reusable templates and production-ready assets for use across digital and print channels
- Establish and document system governance: naming conventions, versioning, usage guidelines, and contribution models
- Present design systems and strategic recommendations to enterprise clients with clarity and confidence
You should have:
- 5–8 years of design experience, with demonstrated focus on design systems, brand systems, or multi-channel design infrastructure
- Expert-level Figma proficiency — variables, tokens, advanced auto-layout, component properties, interactive components, and library management
- Strong working knowledge of Canva for Teams, including brand kit setup and template creation
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Exceptional visual design skills — typography, layout, color, and grid — with the range to work across digital and print formats
- Experience translating brand guidelines into scalable systems for enterprise or large-scale clients
- Ability to present work confidently and articulate system decisions to non-designer stakeholders
- Full professional English fluency (written and spoken)
- Reliable high-speed internet connection
- Ability to travel internationally for our annual team convening
Big bonus if you have:
- Experience working in an agency or consultancy environment
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) as they apply to component and template design
- Motion or interaction design skills for defining animation within a system
- Experience with financial services, insurance, or enterprise clients
- Working knowledge of design-to-dev handoff and token implementation
Our benefits:
- 3 weeks paid vacation + 1 week sick leave — ample time to rest, recharge, and show up at your best
- 18 paid holidays — aligned with the Colombian holiday schedule
- Premium health insurance through AXA Colpatria — comprehensive coverage so you can stay healthy and focused
- Home office stipend — support for building a workspace that works for you
- Bi-weekly virtual team lunch — dedicated time to connect with the team over food
- Personal coaching — because we're invested in you growing, not just the work you produce
Remote-first team:
You can work from anywhere in Colombia, as long as your location and internet connection allow you to meet the demands of the role and attend internal and client meetings. All team members are required to travel at least once a year for our annual team convening — location varies each year. For those who prefer working outside the home, we provide co-working memberships.
Our commitment to inclusion:
Stranger Creative was founded by a queer Asian designer. We actively seek candidates whose identities and lived experiences bring perspectives that make our work stronger and our team more complete. We are an equal opportunity employer.
