We are currently partnered with a Series B RegTech firm that specializes in blockchain compliance and fraud solution in search for a Senior Data Scientist to join their team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design Fraud Detection Models: Develop sophisticated machine learning systems and statistical methods to identify suspicious patterns and behaviors across blockchain networks.
- Build Analyst Tools: Create custom algorithms and user-friendly visual tools that enable investigative teams to surface emerging threats within decentralized systems.
- Analyze Blockchain Structures: Dive deep into blockchain data, using your knowledge of distributed ledgers and cryptographic systems to uncover hidden signals tied to financial crime.
- Create Data Visualizations: Design interactive visual dashboards and tools that make complex data intuitive for investigators and non-technical users to explore and interpret.
- Collaborate Across Disciplines: Partner with software engineers, research scientists, and data experts to define analytical strategies, shape technical roadmaps, and share findings across teams.
- Stay on the Cutting Edge: Regularly explore new trends, research papers, and technologies in crypto and data science to keep your approach modern and effective.
- Mentor & Standardize: Help grow the team’s analytical capabilities through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and by defining standards around data quality, modeling, and experimentation.
What You Bring
- An academic background in a technical or analytical field like Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Economics; an advanced degree is a plus.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in data science or a similar analytical role.
- Strong programming skills in Python (or equivalent) and experience working in collaborative coding environments (version control, code reviews, etc.).
- Comfortable querying and working with structured data using tools like SQL.
- A data-first mindset—you’re fluent in statistical thinking and know how to interpret distributions, correlations, and signals in messy or noisy data.
- You’re resourceful and proactive in solving ambiguous problems with limited structure or precedent.
- Capable of owning and delivering end-to-end modeling projects, from scoping through deployment.
- Excellent communicator, able to clearly explain complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
