We’re looking for UX and Content Design Mentors to become part of our friendly atmosphere and join our enthusiastic, all-volunteer crew.
This is you if…
You’re passionate about coaching the next generation of UX or content designers, with a track record of formal or informal mentoring and/or teaching design skills. You could be a senior team member wanting to become a fully fledged team lead or manager, or you could just be looking to mentor in an environment where there's an actual product to work on. If you're game, we're game!
Responsibilities
Note: This is an all-volunteer organization. Everyone commits 6-8 hours a week of time to one another and the work.
Lead by example on design projects, including creating processes and tools that can help more junior team members learn and thrive with the following tasks:
- Design both low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes that address requirements from users and stakeholders
- Conduct UX exercises like card sorting, style tiles, etc. and user research
- Navigate design soft skills like communicating with stakeholders about user insights and impact
Additionally:
- Help run meetings for ongoing projects like our user research program, design system, idea incubator, and portfolio review sessions
- If desired, you can also work on various UX design tasks yourself
- Follow Steam-Funk Productions, LLC operational policies and procedures
- Act with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promotes the culture of Steam-Funk Productions, LLC
- Ability to communicate effectively both synchronously and asynchronously with team members, including writing clear and concise documentation
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment with shifting needs
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality at meetings
- Contribute to a positive team environment portraying knowledge and skill
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and dependable, with a strong work ethic
Experience
- Previous work as a senior UX designer required
- Skills in using Figma or similar design tools required
- Familiarity with chat apps (e.g., Slack), WordPress, and digital accessibility preferred
