Stanbridge University is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to safeguard the reliability of our in-house Learning Management System (LMS) and its supporting services. This full-time role is ideal for someone eager to grow from a strong manual-testing-focused professional, with intermediate automation development foundations, into an advanced software test automation development engineer. You’ll collaborate with a distributed team of developers, product owners, and instructional designers to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute functional, regression, integration, and exploratory tests on the LMS’s web and mobile experiences.
  • Design clear, reusable test scenarios, test cases, automated test scripts, and data sets; maintain comprehensive test plans and reports.
  • Automate high-value test scenarios using Playwright/Pest 4 frameworks and PHPUnit (or similar) tests.
  • Log, prioritize, and track defects from identification to resolution; collaborate with developers to document, reproduce, debug, and verify fixes.
  • Contribute to sprint planning by estimating test effort, identifying risks, and suggesting acceptance criteria.
  • Monitor CI pipeline executions and analyze automated-test results, raising alerts when instability appears.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives—enhancing QA processes, tooling, and documentation.
  • Stay current on QA best practices, accessibility requirements (WCAG 2.1), and security considerations (OWASP).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on professional manual testing experience for web applications, with 1–3 years of test automation development experience.
  • Exposure to writing or maintaining automated tests with Playwright/Pest 4 and PHPUnit (or comparable frameworks).
  • Solid grasp of software-testing concepts, defect lifecycles, and Agile/Scrum workflows.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Laravel, VueJS, RESTful APIs, and version-control systems.
  • Version Control: Proficient with Git, including branching and worktrees.
  • Team Tools: Experienced with ClickUp, Cursor, and Notion for documentation, test planning, and task tracking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; meticulous attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating in a fully remote environment using Slack, Zoom, and modern ticket-tracking systems.
  • Experience testing LMS, CMS, or other education-technology platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of performance or load testing tools (JMeter, Gatling) and mobile testing frameworks (Appium) preferred.
  • Familiarity with SQL for basic data validation and troubleshooting preferred.
  • Understanding of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) preferred.
  • Excellent organization, time management, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

Conditions of Employment:

  • A job-related assessment may be required during the interview process.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be physically present in the office (unless otherwise noted).
  • Employment verification will be conducted to validate work experience per accreditation standards.
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment:

  • Standard office/classroom/lab or clinical setting.
  • Duties are typically performed while sitting at a desk or computer workstation.
  • May include time spent in skills labs or bedside environments as required by the program.
