We are seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join our Sourcing/Fulfillment team, supporting a high-impact initiative focused on backend development for streaming data, search indexing, and data aggregation for critical applications. This is a senior-level role where you’ll design, build, and optimize backend systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability in a cloud-native environment.
Required Skills
- 7–10 years of backend Java development experience (will consider candidates with 5+ years if exceptionally strong).
- Strong hands-on experience with Cassandra and Google BigQuery.
- GCP Cloud expertise, with experience deploying and scaling backend services.
- Deep understanding of Database Access Patterns for large-scale applications.
- Strong experience with dashboard reporting and monitoring tools:
- Prometheus and Grafana (preferred).
- OpenTelemetry experience may be considered if no Prometheus/Grafana background.
- Experience with Dynatrace or AppDynamics for application performance monitoring, analytics, and security.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain backend services using Java, Cassandra, and BigQuery.
- Build and enhance systems to support streaming data pipelines for search and indexing.
- Aggregate large data sets and make them queryable for backend applications.
- Integrate monitoring, observability, and reporting solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, OTel).
- Utilize Dynatrace or AppDynamics to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize system health.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineers to design scalable, cloud-native solutions in GCP.
- Contribute to technical strategy, mentor team members, and uphold engineering best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with CI/CD automation and DevOps practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in fast-paced environments.
