Staff Software Engineer – Backend - UK-Based – Up To £120k

Are you a seasoned backend engineer ready to take the lead on complex systems at scale? I am helping a leading B2B SaaS find a Backend Staff Software Engineer to join a high-performing, collaborative, and mission-driven team building software that powers the global built environment.

This role can be remote from anywhere in the UK or if you are based in London hybrid - 2 days in office.

💼 What You’ll Do

• Own the full development lifecycle of complex features and systems
• Design scalable, distributed backend systems and lead architectural decisions
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product and other Engineering teams to solve high-impact challenges
• Guide and mentor engineers, providing technical leadership and championing best practices
• Drive improvements in security, reliability, and performance
• Advocate for high-quality documentation and strong engineering culture

🧠 What You Bring

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience with deep Python expertise
• 3+ years in a technical leadership or staff-level technical role
• Strong architectural skills with microservices, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
• Bachelor's or Master’s in Computer Science or related field
