About Sqilline
Sqilline Health builds Danny, an oncology analytics platform that works with real-world clinical data from 120+ hospitals in Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Spain and Poland. Pharma companies use our analyses to see how cancer treatments perform in real patients. We run our own LLMs on air-gapped infrastructure, so patient data never leaves our environment.
The role
Our backend is Java. How you build matters more to us than your years with the language. We want an engineer who works with AI tools as a daily habit: a coding agent writes the first draft, you review it, test it, and ship it. If you are strong in another language and already work this way, you will pick up Java here. If you prefer to write every line yourself, this role is not a match.
You will work on the Danny platform core, on our anonymization tool that runs on-premise inside hospital infrastructure, and on internal tooling. The team is small, the product is real, and your code runs in production at hospitals across six countries.
What you will do
- Build and maintain features on the Danny platform backend.
- Develop the anonymization tool: an on-premise product deployed inside hospital infrastructure, where reliability and data protection are non-negotiable.
- Automate the boring parts of engineering itself: CI on GitLab, test generation, code review support, internal services powered by our LLM stack.
- Use coding agents as your default way of working, and help set the standard for how the rest of the team adopts them.
- Own what you ship: tests, deployment, monitoring.
What we look for
- AI-first thinking. You reach for a model before writing boilerplate by hand, and you know when not to trust it.
- You use coding agents daily and have opinions about where they're strong and where they fail.
- You ship. Working software in production over elegant designs in documents.
- You hold quality when the tool moves fast: AI writes the draft, you own the correctness.
- You're comfortable in a small team where you see the whole system, not one microservice.
Skills
You need:
- Strong engineering fundamentals in at least one major language. Java experience helps but is not required.
- Daily, hands-on use of AI coding tools. Be ready to show us how you work, live.
- SQL and relational databases.
- Docker, Linux, Git, CI/CD as normal working tools.
Nice to have:
- Java and its ecosystem (Spring or similar).
- On-premise or constrained-environment deployment experience.
- Healthcare or other regulated-data experience (GDPR).
