Position Overview
The Director of Brand Marketing plays a pivotal role in driving the development and execution of the brand strategy for the organization. This position is responsible for overseeing critical aspects of brand marketing, including brand positioning, development, messaging, media, and execution. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with overall business objectives and drives initiatives to enhance brand equity, awareness, and engagement.
Essential Functions (Other Duties as Assigned)
- Brand Strategy and Positioning: Refine and share our brand strategy to ensure alignment with our business goals and objectives
- Media Execution: Manage all day-to-day brand and media programs, leading cross-functional teams to ensure all channels — owned, earned, and paid across physical, digital, press, social — are integrated and compelling to represent key brand objectives and revenue goals
- Customer Acquisition: Design a repeatable brand-led customer acquisition flywheel to accelerate revenue growth where brand fuels demand generation and demand generation fuels brand; innovative customer-centric brand marketing efforts that build awareness
- Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to inform brand decisions. Conduct market research and customer surveys to gather feedback and refine brand strategies
- Analysis and Reporting: Present monthly and quarterly analytics and recommendations to the senior leadership team based on data-driven insights and qualitative learnings from ongoing brand measurement
- Social media: Lead and coordinate implementation of an earned social media strategy and content across the company's owned channels, ensuring it aligns with our business goals, voice, and brand, and improves engagement
- Public Relations (PR): Develop and launch a communications and PR strategy that garners a strong share of voice from earned media, positioning the brand as a respected market driver
- Budget Management: Manage the brand marketing budget effectively, allocating resources to initiatives that deliver the greatest ROI
- Design and deliver an integrated marketing calendar for marketing activities across the organization and its portfolio of brands
- Collaborate with the broader enterprise to solicit continuous feedback on current and future marketing tactics, launch new products, and leverage internal analytics resources to measure the success (e.g., overall revenue growth and marketing metrics like brand awareness, site visits, wash volume, membership growth, etc.)
- Collaborate and negotiate with external marketing agencies to develop more effective and efficient marketing plans
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field required
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in marketing with an emphasis on building brands
- Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience managing and scaling a Corporate or Brand Marketing team
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Deep understanding of brand strategy, digital marketing, social media, public relations, and integrated campaign planning
- Familiarity with working across internal functions and with external agencies (media, creative, PR, digital)
- Excellent verbal and written skills, including presentation and storytelling abilities
- Strong creative thinking with a demonstrated ability to build and execute multi-channel marketing activations
- Highly proficient in managing complex projects with competing deadlines
- Ability to inform, influence, and collaborate across departments and levels within the organization
- Ability to prioritize effectively and deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- Results-oriented with a proven track record of successfully managing and growing brands
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasional travel may be required, less than 10% travel (e.g., agency visits, brand events, site visits)
- Ability to participate in offsite events or marketing activations, which may require light lifting (e.g., branded materials, signage)
