Assignment Description:

The client is seeking a Software Engineer with strong experience in developer infrastructure and tooling to help build the next generation of developer experience. You will be part of the Platform Developer Experience (PDX) R&D Studio, which drives cross-discipline infrastructure initiatives across engineering, including version control systems, CI systems, and large-scale monorepos.

The ideal candidate is passionate about improving developer productivity, enjoys working in complex engineering environments, and has hands-on experience with Bazel and monorepo-based architectures.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of the client’s monorepo ecosystem.
• Lead and support the migration to Bazel, managing related abstractions and tooling to enhance the developer experience.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams across the organization to establish best practices for monorepo scalability and developer workflows.
• Ensure the developer build experience is fast, well-integrated, automated, and insight-driven.
• Drive innovation and productivity improvements across backend engineering teams.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in developer productivity engineering or infrastructure development.
• Hands-on experience with the Bazel build system and its ecosystem (e.g., rulesjvmexternal, IntelliJ Bazel plugin, etc.).
• Proficiency in Java, Python, Starlark, and TypeScript.
• Experience building and maintaining tools for large-scale monorepo-based codebases.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in platform engineering, CI/CD systems, or distributed build infrastructure.
• Familiarity with developer experience (DevEx) tooling and best practices.
