Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager – Android OS & On-Device Platform to own the strategy, execution, and lifecycle of Spectralink's Android OS platform and core on-device capabilities.
This role owns the product vision and strategic roadmap for Spectralink's Android platform—defining how our devices evolve to meet emerging customer needs, identifying opportunities for differentiation, and charting the path from today's foundation to tomorrow's intelligent, extensible platform capabilities.
In addition, this role is accountable for Android OS upgrades, security and maintenance releases, and ODM execution, while also partnering closely with internal engineering teams to build Spectralink's on-device platform layer, including platform intelligence, system services, APIs, and extensibility foundations.
This is a hands-on senior role that blends platform product innovation and leadership with vendor program execution. Success requires strong organizational and project management skills alongside product vision. You will work extensively with our ODM partners (based primarily in China), while also serving as a key product partner to Spectralink's internal engineering, hardware, and application product teams.
The role reports into a Group Product Manager and plays a critical role in ensuring Spectralink's devices remain secure, modern, extensible, and competitive over long product lifecycles

Key Responsibilities
Own the Android OS and on-device platform strategy, aligned with Spectralink's product portfolio and long-term roadmap
Define how the platform evolves—balancing innovation, security, lifecycle stability, and maintainability across device generations
Own end-to-end Android OS lifecycle: major upgrades, security maintenance releases, and sustaining releases
Navigate GMS/MADA/EDLA certification processes and define upgrade strategies that balance customer impact, engineering effort, and ODM constraints
Serve as primary owner for ODM-delivered Android OS workstreams—SOWs, requirements, milestone tracking, and delivery accountability

Partner with internal engineering to shape on-device platform capabilities, APIs, and system services
Act as a system-level integrator—managing dependencies across hardware, OS, platform, and applications
Partner with Hardware, Applications, and Core Platform PMs to ensure cohesive product decisions
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in technical product management, platform product management, or system-level product roles
Understanding of embedded software and operating systems on custom hardware, with Android/Linux experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-team dependencies in hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments
Experience with structured requirements practices—creating clear, testable acceptance criteria across the full requirements lifecycle
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, translating technical concepts into clear product decisions
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field

Strongly Preferred Qualifications
Direct, hands-on experience with Android OS platforms (device-level, not just app-level)
Experience with GMS/EDLA certification processes and Google compliance requirements
Experience with ruggedized or enterprise mobile devices in healthcare, retail, or manufacturing environments
Familiarity with long-lifecycle device platforms and regulated environments (HIPAA, PHI, PII)
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and evolving requirements—discovery-driven mindset
Exposure to platform services, telemetry, or Edge AI/IoT ecosystems

Location: Anywhere in the US, must be able to join calls with China during some week nights
