Job Description
At Red Elk Studious (www.redelk.co), we’re crafting immersive and unforgettable gaming experiences. Our latest endeavor is a partnership with Battle Creek Games, USA on next-gen open sandbox hunting simulation game that pushes the boundaries of realism, exploration, and player freedom. We're seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to shape every touchpoint of the player experience—from HUDs and menus to progression screens and mission flows.
Role Overview
As Senior UI/UX Designer, you will lead the design and implementation of the game’s user interface and interaction systems, ensuring clarity, immersion, and usability across all player journeys. You’ll work closely with design, engineering, and art teams to craft elegant, intuitive UI that enhances core systems like weapons management, player progression, mission tracking, and event participation.
Key Responsibilities
- UI/UX Strategy & Design Execution Define and execute the overall UX strategy for the game’s UI, from wireframes and information architecture to high-fidelity mockups and final assets.
- Gameplay System Integration
Design Intuitive User Experiences For Complex Systems Such As
Gun upgrades and customization
Progression and skill trees
Mission flow and objectives
Events and live challenges
Leaderboards and player stats
Inventory and loadout management
- HUD & In-Game UI Craft immersive and unobtrusive HUDs, ensuring players have access to key information like ammo, tracking data, stealth status, and mission objectives without clutter or confusion.
- Player Feedback & Usability Collaborate with UX Researchers and QA to collect and apply player feedback to improve accessibility, readability, and feature discoverability.
- Prototyping & Iteration Create rapid prototypes using tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Unreal Engine UMG/Blueprints. Collaborate closely with engineers to implement and polish designs in-game.
- Cross-Department Collaboration Work hand-in-hand with gameplay, systems design, and narrative to ensure a consistent and seamless user journey across game loops and UI surfaces.
- Platform Adaptation Ensure all UI/UX elements function fluidly across platforms (PC and console), including input navigation and resolution scaling.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) / Metrics for Success
- Player Usability Scores High usability and accessibility scores during playtesting sessions across key UI flows.
- Task Completion Rate Increased success and speed in user task completion (e.g., customizing a weapon, tracking a mission, checking stats).
- Iteration Velocity Efficient UX iteration cycles based on feedback, achieving functional prototypes and polished UI within defined sprint timelines.
- Bug-Free Implementation Minimal UI-related bugs in QA/testing phases, particularly on multi-platform builds.
- Player Retention & Engagement Positive impact on progression system engagement and event participation due to intuitive and rewarding UI design.
- Cross-Team Satisfaction Strong collaboration scores from product, art, and engineering—reflecting effective communication and streamlined implementation.
- UI/UX Consistency & Aesthetic Quality A cohesive and visually polished UI style that enhances the game’s tone and immersiveness.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design for games, with at least one shipped title in a senior or lead role.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in both interaction design and visual UI across complex systems.
- Proficient with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and Photoshop.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine (UMG) or similar implementation pipelines.
- Excellent understanding of information architecture, game flow, player psychology, and UX best practices.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on open-world or system-heavy games.
- Understanding of controller-first UI/UX design for consoles.
- Passion for simulation, tactical shooters, or hunting genres.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and localization workflows.
