Senior Backend Engineer — Fintech Scale-up (Remote, Spain)

A European fintech building financial infrastructure for SMEs - banking, invoicing, accounting, and an AI layer that acts like a part-time CFO. Raised north of $300m, profitable this year, expanding hard across key EU markets. Serious company. Lot left to build.

Looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join one of their product domains. Not a platform role.

You sit inside a cross-functional team, product, frontend, mobile, ML, and you own outcomes, not tickets. They want challengers, not nodders.

Stack: .NET / C#, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Kubernetes, GCP.

What they need:

Someone who builds with the product in mind. You understand the why, not just the how. You push back when something doesn't make sense. You talk to PMs, explain trade-offs, and care whether what you shipped actually worked.

The technical bar is high, but that's table stakes. What separates the right person is commercial awareness and genuine ownership.

Probably a fit if:

• 5+ years backend with real distributed systems in production
• .NET / C# is your home and you're good at it
• Product-led environment is where you do your best work
• You've challenged a PM's roadmap before — and you were right to
• You have a view on how AI is reshaping engineering teams

Probably not a fit if:

• You want to be told what to build
• Last few years have been maintenance mode
• No position on AI in your day-to-day
