About Solar Provider Group

Solar Provider Group (SPG) is a global solar developer with offices in the United States, Canada, Germany, and the Netherlands and active projects across North America and Europe. This role is part of the Company’s North American team, which is focused primarily on the development of solar and BESS projects in the United States and Canada, with most current activity in the United States. We identify, secure, and advance high-quality sites through the full development cycle, from early-stage land acquisition to construction readiness. Our team combines technical expertise, financial insight, and strong local relationships to deliver projects that accelerate the clean-energy transition and create lasting value for landowners and communities.

The Role

We are seeking a highly organized, commercially minded, and results-oriented Senior Project Manager to lead solar and BESS projects from early-stage site evaluation through to construction readiness. Reporting to the Head of Development, this role is responsible for managing complex development portfolios, coordinating internal teams and external consultants, and driving projects forward across permitting, interconnection, stakeholder engagement, and related development workstreams.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong grasp of the U.S. regulatory landscape, solid project management discipline, and the judgment and leadership skills required to advance multiple projects on time, on budget, and in compliance with applicable requirements.

Work Location

For candidates based in the United States: This position is fully remote and will be performed from the successful candidate’s home office while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

For candidates based in Toronto: This is a hybrid role based in the Company’s Liberty Village office, with an expected schedule of at least three days per week in the office and the balance worked remotely from the successful candidate’s home office, subject in each case to business needs and the Company’s work practices from time to time.

In either case, frequent travel across U.S. states to visit project sites and engage with local communities should be expected.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage project development activities across portfolios by coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the entire project development cycle, including land evaluation and acquisition, planning and permitting, interconnection, engineering, site surveying, environmental and regulatory compliance, power purchase agreements, and financial evaluation.
  • Achieve project development milestones on time and within budget to enable successful progression into construction readiness and transaction close.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project delays and cost overruns; monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track and maintain a strong understanding of eligible project incentives, potential revenue streams, and program rules to ensure effective implementation and compliance.
  • Manage and report on project portfolio data, timelines, budgets, and deliverables using various tools; consistently maintain and update portfolio reports, budgets, and databases to support project- and portfolio-level analysis and development reporting.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis and financial modeling to evaluate solar PV and BESS project portfolios and advise on project financial feasibility.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with local governments, permitting authorities, regulatory agencies across the US and Canada (e.g., USEPA, USFWS, Conservation Authorities), utilities, and other stakeholders to secure required permits and approvals.
  • Manage consultants and project stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of all deliverables; conduct site visits and coordinate field staff and consultants.
  • Review, negotiate, and manage project contracts, including leases, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, consultant contracts, term sheets, and project buyer agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
  • Perform due diligence on solar projects by coordinating with internal functional teams (e.g., business development, legal, real estate, project finance, engineering) and external consultants and advisors.
  • Utilize planning tools to effectively monitor and optimize project costs and timelines.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation and records related to budgets, schedules, quality, and project management activities.
  • Develop sales presentations, proposals, and supporting materials to facilitate the transaction of construction-ready projects.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in solar or energy storage.
  • Demonstrated alignment with the Company’s core values: team-play, tenacity, sharing, sustainability, passion, and ownership.
  • Hands-on experience in developing solar PV and BESS projects through the full project development cycle, including project siting, planning and permitting, interconnection, engineering, site surveying, environmental and regulatory compliance, power purchase agreements, and financial evaluation.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as renewable energy, planning, geography, project management, or a related discipline. PMP designation is a bonus.
  • Understanding of the US regulatory landscape and permitting processes for solar projects is required. Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to power marketing, grid interconnection, environmental compliance, zoning, and permitting requirements is necessary.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously and overseeing the entire project lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication, leadership skills and ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, regulatory authorities, utility companies, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in project acquisition and/or construction would be an asset.
