Geospatial Data Scientist (Geoscience Focus)

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate technologies for new development projects
• Develop and validate satellite data analysis techniques
• Develop new technology for R&D projects
• Conduct extensive research and development using satellite, image, video and geospatial data, GIS tools, etc.

Required Skills

• Research experience in geosciences, mathematics and/or information sciences
• Experience in working with satellite or geospatial data (geoscience-related, or not)
• Good programming experience with Python is a must, including general software engineering practices
• Building predictive models, applying them to different problems, and evaluating and interpreting the results
• Geospatial analyses and visualizations
• Ph.D. in sciences, engineering, OR equivalent level of work experience and skills (negotiable)
• Reading and writing skills in English (Our internal documents are in English)

Preferred skills and experience (Nice to have)

• Research experience in geosciences, specifically mining or mineral exploration
• Research experience using satellite data, geospatial data, python, etc.
• Cloud computing resources
• Willing to work outside of area of expertise when required
• Skills in software engineering, machine learning, data science, data engineering, etc.
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn, with a proactive approach to exploring new concepts and technologies
• Experience leading development or research projects
• Experience participating in data science competitions such as Kaggle and its results
• Research experience at overseas research institutes or companies
