Position & Responsibilities

You will serve as our founding UI/UX Designer, owning agent product development across the SACR website & web platform with a strong focus on clear, trustworthy, research-grade interfaces for a senior, skeptical audience (CISOs). Your core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Core Product Design Deliverables

  • End-to-end product design: discovery, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, interactive prototypes, and engineering-ready handoff
  • AI answer experience: design how cited, confidence-scored, evidence-backed answers are presented so they read as defensible — clearly separating evidence, inference, and opinion
  • Vendor profile & comparison interfaces: categories, integrations, compliance, and benchmarking views that stay readable at high data density
  • Onboarding & context-capture flows: progressive profiling (company size, industry, stack, regulatory posture) that balances speed with the context the product needs
  • Website & web app: marketing site, login portal, gated reports, market maps, and paid tiers — responsive across mobile and desktop
  • Design system: build and maintain shared components, tokens, and patterns so Exodus and the website stay visually and functionally consistent

Design Quality & Collaboration

  • Translate complex cybersecurity and AI concepts into simple, intuitive interfaces (flows, diagrams, step-by-step interactions)
  • Maintain strong typography, hierarchy, and accessibility so findings, evidence, and actions are visually distinct
  • Uphold brand and system consistency across color, spacing, and type scale
  • Run lightweight user research and usability testing, including incorporating CISO Advisory Board feedback
  • Strong developer handoff and engagement — able to clearly explain how a new feature should behave (e.g., a quick walkthrough showing that clicking a red button turns it blue) so engineers can build with confidence

Working Style

  • Comfortable designing in ambiguity — Exodus is early and discovery-heavy, so specs won't always be fully defined
  • Work in Figma for exploration and prototyping, with technical rework tracked in Notion
  • Clear async communication, including status updates and early clarifying questions
  • Fast iteration and openness to feedback
  • Comfortable as a founding generalist supporting product and web, with occasional brand work
  • Organized handoffs: shares editable links/files and keeps assets and components easy to reuse

Duties may evolve over time to reflect business needs.

Confidentiality & Security

As part of a cybersecurity research firm, you will regularly handle sensitive, pre-publication, and embargoed material. In this role you are expected to:

  • Handle confidential research, vendor information, and embargoed material with discretion, respecting NDAs and publication embargoes
  • Follow secure file-handling practices, including approved tools, access controls, and safe sharing of editable files
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity across all data visualizations and product interfaces, avoiding misleading scales or distortion of research findings
  • Bring genuine curiosity for cybersecurity concepts (threat landscape, vendor categories, and security frameworks) to produce credible, audience-appropriate designs

Tools & Software

  • Figma — primary tool for UI design, prototyping, components, and design systems
  • Notion — product documentation, roadmaps, and technical rework tracking
  • Claude Design — AI-assisted design to expedite exploration and iteration (nice to have)
  • Canva — quick-turn brand and social assets (nice to have)
  • Adobe Creative Cloud — Illustrator and Photoshop for supporting assets (nice to have)

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years in product / UX-UI design, ideally in B2B SaaS or enterprise software
  • A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product work, complex/data-heavy interfaces, and design-system contributions
  • Expert proficiency in Figma (design, prototyping, components, and libraries)
  • Strong UX fundamentals: information architecture, interaction design, usability, accessibility, and responsive design
  • Strong discovery & UX research: hands-on experience with journey maps, user interviews, and usability testing. Knows how to collect information, understand what stakeholders and users are actually saying, and read between the lines rather than taking a brief at face value.
  • Responsive design across devices: the website or product should look and feel the same regardless of the device or screen size the user is on
  • Ability to translate complex or technical concepts into clean, simple interfaces
  • Strong typography, layout, and visual hierarchy skills
  • Clear async communication and fast, feedback-driven iteration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing AI/LLM-powered products (chat/answer UIs, citations, confidence indicators, agentic flows)
  • Experience building a design system from scratch
  • Light front-end literacy (HTML/CSS and understanding of how components are implemented) to collaborate closely with engineers
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity or another technical/regulated domain, or designing for technical and enterprise audiences
  • Proficiency in Canva for occasional quick-turn marketing assets
  • Ability to add microinteractions using JS libraries — subtle touches that make the work more engaging (a plus)
  • Experience with Claude Design (Claude's design capabilities) to expedite the design process

What We'll Evaluate During Screening

  • Portfolio showing:
  • End-to-end product design and complex, data-heavy interfaces
  • Web and app UI, plus responsive layout work
  • Examples where you simplified a complex concept or workflow
  • A short test assignment / design challenge may be used to assess:
  • Design thinking and problem framing (e.g., an answer-with-evidence view or an onboarding flow)
  • Layout, hierarchy, and interaction quality
  • Speed and communication
