Senior/Lead Java Software Engineer

About The Role

In this role, you will get exposure to cutting-edge AI augmentation and large-scale system architecture within a culture that values both technical prowess and strong business context alignment. Our client is building the next generation of AI-enabled logistics software aimed at transforming supply chain solutions. You will work on migrating a complex Salesforce-based monolith into a modern microservices architecture, rebuilding business logic into scalable, domain-driven services.

Responsibilities

• Drive backend development initiatives using Java 21, Spring Boot 3, and PostgreSQL in production environments
• Work for transition systems from monolith architectures to microservices
• Implement and maintain observability as a primary concern, applying tools like OpenTelemetry, Datadog, and Grafana or equivalent
• Leverage AI throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle (design, architecture, coding, review, and testing) to enhance velocity and quality
• Proactively surface blockers, risks, and trade-offs, ensuring transparent communication with technical and business stakeholders
• Participate in continuous improvement of processes, embracing ambiguity, adaptability, and direct feedback within a collaborative agile environment
• Document and present technical decisions, ensuring alignment with business and customer outcomes
• Complete required screening and documentation for all project and organizational processes

Requirements

• Demonstrated 6+ years of professional Java development experience, including hands-on production experience with Java 21 and Spring Boot 3
• Track record of Tech lead level activities
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, Streaming & Cloud asynchronous message busses, AWS, and GitHub Actions
• Proven experience in decomposing monolithic systems to microservices, with ability to articulate architectural decisions and operational trade-offs
• Strong expertise in clean architecture and scalable system design (horizontal and vertical), with portfolio evidence of shipped systems
• Experience with observability-first engineering, including structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, and alerting (e.g. OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana), with the ability to use observability data to diagnose production issues
• Track record of leveraging AI tooling (e.g., for code generation, review, test writing, architecture ideation) as a core development practice
• Fluent and effective communicator, able to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, provide and receive direct feedback
• Demonstrated "agile builder" mentality: delivery-focused, adaptive, and improvement-oriented
• Strong understanding of why behind requirements and design, connecting engineering execution to broader business and customer value
• Experience leading through technical or organizational change while maintaining momentum
• Experience building or contributing to AI agent systems (e.g., LangGraph, tool use, multi-agent orchestration)
• Prior exposure to logistics, supply chain, or warehouse management system domains
• Upper-intermediate or higher English level for effective communication in global teams
