We are seeking an experienced Retention Marketing Manager to develop and execute multi-channel retention marketing strategies across direct mail, email, and SMS channels. This role will be responsible for growing customer lifetime value, increasing repeat purchase rates, and building lasting relationships with our customer base through personalized communications. This is currently an Individual Contributor role and will report directly to the Head of Marketing.
A typical day as a Retention Marketing Manager might include:
Strategy & Planning
- Develop comprehensive retention marketing strategies and content across direct mail, email, and SMS channels to drive customer engagement and repeat purchases
- Establish testing frameworks to continuously improve campaign performance
- Lead and execute email/sms list growth efforts (i.e., onsite modals, partnered sweepstakes, giveaways, etc)
- Manage retention marketing budget, vendors, and track ROI across channels.
- Set channel-specific KPIs and work with leadership to establish quarterly and annual retention goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including, but not limited to, creative, merchandising, and customer service
- Partner with external vendors and agencies as needed
Campaign Execution
- Plan and execute all email, sms, and direct mail campaigns, including creative development process, list selection, and vendor management
- Plan and oversee retention marketing workflows for newly acquired customers, post-purchase engagement, and win-back campaigns
- Monitor campaign performance and provide regular reporting on key metrics
Analytics & Optimization
- Analyze customer behavior data to identify trends and opportunities for improved targeting
- Conduct cohort analyses to understand customer lifecycle patterns
- Optimize campaign timing, frequency, and content based on performance data
- Create and maintain dashboards to track retention metrics and campaign performance
- Present results and recommendations to senior leadership
What you bring to the table:
- 4+ years of experience in retention marketing or CRM roles, preferably in e-commerce.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful direct mail, email, and SMS campaigns.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive decision-making.
- Proficiency with email marketing platforms (e.g., Klaviyo or similar).
- Experience with customer segmentation and lifecycle marketing.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- While we are a remote workforce, we still value being willing and able to travel to various locations for broader team gatherings, industry conferences, etc.
- We're casual and informal, but we work hard and work responsibly. Personal accountability goes a long way.
Base salary for US candidates: $80,000 - $110,000
