Role Description (Volunteer)
This is a full-time remote volunteer role with the prospect of paid employment in the near term based on performance. We are seeking a creative, strategic, and passionate Marketing Specialist (Volunteer) with at least 5 years of marketing experience across both digital and traditional channels. The ideal candidate will help drive brand awareness, audience growth, and engagement for our technology-driven beauty and inclusion platform.
This role is ideal for a marketing professional who thrives in a mission-driven and performance-oriented environment and is motivated to empower Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) communities in Canada’s beauty and wellness industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute marketing plans and strategies across digital (social media, email, web, SEO, SEM) and traditional (print, events, partnerships, media) channels.
- Manage and optimize CRM campaigns using tools such as Mailchimp, ensuring personalized, targeted communication for customer acquisition and retention.
- Conduct market research and gather insights into BIPOC beauty and consumer needs to inform messaging and campaigns.
- Create and manage content calendars, promotional campaigns, and creative materials that reflect inclusivity, cultural awareness, customer needs and platform value propositions to achieve customer acquisition.
- Collaborate with design, content, and technology teams to develop innovative marketing ideas that align with platform goals.
- Track and analyze key performance metrics (traffic, engagement, conversion, customer acquisition) and provide actionable insights to improve ROI.
- Support partnership development with beauty professionals, schools, beauty professional associations, regulators, influencers, and BIPOC community organizations.
- Ensure brand consistency across all touchpoints and communications.
- Contribute to team meetings, brainstorms, and creative sessions; bring fresh, culturally grounded ideas.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional marketing experience, covering both digital and traditional channels
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities under minimal supervision
- Proficiency in developing and implementing Marketing Plans and Strategies
- Skilled in CRM systems such as Mailchimp, HubSpot, or similar platforms
- Demonstrated experience in marketing technology platforms or online marketplaces
- Deep understanding of BIPOC beauty industry dynamics and inclusive consumer representation
- Strong creativity and originality in campaign development
- Proven ability to acquire, engage, and retain customers through data-driven marketing
- Experience in conducting Market Research and supporting Sales efforts
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field is preferred
- Strong collaboration skills; comfortable working in a remote, cross-functional team
- Experience in the beauty and wellness industry is a plus
