Sr. to Lead Software Engineer - RoR - Profitable Real Estate AI Startup

Location: Remote

The company's product involves real estate, predictive analytics, AI, and SaaS. It helps real estate owners as well as tenants, and is improving the economy and quality of life for communities nationwide.

The company has about 50 employees and 6 engineers. It has raised series A funding. It has reached profitability and is investing the profits into growth.

The company will pay a salary up to $200k (possibly a bit more but most likely not more than $225k), plus equity which could be lucrative.

Job Responsibilities:

- Working with Ruby on Rails (80%) and Python (20%) on the backend and Vue.js on the front end.

- It will be about 85% backend engineering until around March 2026, then it will be about 50/50 front/backend.

- Designing, implementing, and testing AI agents alongside an internal MCP server designed to streamline workflows.

- Pioneering technological pathways to expand our ecosystem of AI Agents.

- Improving, evolving, and maintaining the company's platform built with Ruby on Rails, Vue, the Google Maps API, and more.

- Owning all parts of the stack (frontend, backend, and infrastructure).

- Contributing to the maturity of the engineering department by imparting knowledge gained from past and present experiences.

Qualifications:

- Willing to learn (if necessary) and primarily use Ruby on Rails.

- Strong in either Ruby or Python.

- Strong in Vue.js or React or Angular or another modern JavaScript framework.

- At least 4 years of professional experience as a full stack engineer.

- Self starter.

- Low ego.

Nice to haves:

- Start up experience.

- Ruby, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, SQL.

- Rails, Rspec, Vue, Vuetify, Google Maps API, FastAPI, Pandas, PyTest.

- MySQL, MongoDB, Redis.

- AWS, Hetzner, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes.

- Machine learning/data engineering: scikit-lean, Spark, S3.

- Experience with geospatial data.
