Skool’s engineering team is seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer (Payments) with a passion for developing performant and scalable payment systems written in Go. You will collaborate with Product, Designers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to determine the best way to design and shape how payments flow through our entire platform.

This is a 100% remote position. Skool has an office in Los Angeles, CA but works as a distributed team.

What you'll do

Solve technical problems of high scope and complexity in the payments and billing domain
Take full ownership designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining Skool payment-related backend features
Own integrations with Stripe and other payment providers
Build and maintain internal tools and infrastructure that support payment operations
Communicate and author architectural designs and requirements
Maintain and advocate for high standards through code review and collaboration between yourself and other engineers
Provide mentorship to junior engineers

What we're looking for

You have 8+ years of experience building high-performance, reliable systems in a complex and distributed environment
You have experience and interest in defining the technical direction for the team
You have significant professional experience with Go
You have hands-on experience with Stripe integrations (billing, subscriptions, payouts, or similar)
You have worked on services hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
You have worked on services using PostgreSQL
You have significant professional experience building and maintaining consumer-facing web services at scale
You have experience in database performance optimization, backend performance optimization, and debugging live production services
You have a passion for writing maintainable and elegant code
