travSIM is investing over R7 million into the next generation of our digital platforms — and we’re looking for a top-tier UI/UX Designer to help shape that vision.

This is primarily an office-based role, but we may consider a remote arrangement for exceptional candidates.

• You do not have a mobile design portfolio
• You’ve never designed a full UI for a mobile app or mobile-first product
• You are not available to work on-site from our Johannesburg office (unless an exceptional remote fit)

Important Portfolio Requirement

We are specifically looking for a complete mobile app design project that shows your end-to-end thinking — from problem framing and wireframes to final UI.

Applications that only include desktop work or polished visuals without UX context will not be considered.

You will be asked to submit your portfolio or specific links to case studies or project files that clearly demonstrate:

• Mobile app interface design (not desktop web)
• Your UX process — including user flows, wireframes, and early-stage thinking
• High-fidelity visual/UI execution for mobile-first or responsive platforms

Position Overview

We’re looking for a sharp, detail-obsessed UI/UX Designer with a standout portfolio of mobile app design work. You should be confident designing complete user journeys, crafting crisp UI, and delivering production-ready work at speed.

Key Responsibilities

• Design modern, intuitive mobile-first interfaces for a growing product
• Create wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity prototypes, and scalable design systems (primarily using Figma)
• Collaborate with developers and product managers to bring designs to life
• Conduct user testing and refine designs based on feedback
• Ensure all UI/UX deliverables are launch-ready, consistent, and visually polished
• Uphold high standards of usability, clarity, and aesthetic quality

Required Qualifications

• Only candidates with launch-ready or near-launch quality mobile design work will be considered
• Strong portfolio of mobile UI/UX design — live apps preferred, polished mockups accepted
• Professional experience designing end-to-end mobile-first products
• Expert-level proficiency in Figma (preferred), Adobe XD, or Sketch
• Availability to work full-time
• Strategic and self-driven: you understand UX deeply, align design with business goals, and move fast without sacrificing quality
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain design decisions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on travel, fintech, or e-commerce platforms
• Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system or component library
• Exposure to responsive layout design for both mobile and desktop
• Familiarity with basic product strategy and business logic
