Software Engineer for Automation with German language

For our client, one of Germany’s largest semiconductor producers, we are looking for a curious and open-minded Software Engineer for High-Automation in Production. In this role, you’ll operate at the intersection of IT and production, mastering complex interfaces within the manufacturing data landscape. You'll analyse material flows, uncover opportunities within the production environment, and develop tailored software solutions that keep the fab at the forefront of global innovation.

Your tasks

• Working as part of a globally networked fab automation team
• Developing concepts for automating production processes in the areas of WIP (Work in Progress) flow management and transport automation, and implementing these into manufacturing workflows
• Performing requirements analysis, development, testing, and rollout of software components in close collaboration with production engineers from the respective departments
• Developing automated decision-making heuristics, interfacing SAP and MES systems
• Participating in automation projects, possibly taking on sub-project management roles
• Providing on-call support to ensure the continuity of production

Requirements

• Fluency in speaking English and German
• University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics
• Proficient in relevant programming languages like Java, C#, or Python
• Experience or be open to working with data structures as well as in developing automated decision algorithms and complex automation solutions
• Previous work in agile software development, for example, Azure DevOps
• Professional experience in an automated production environment
