Forward Deployed Software Engineer – AI Infrastructure

Base Salary Range: $160,000-$200,000

Location: USA Remote

A high-growth startup backed by $68M in funding is looking for a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to join their engineering team. This company partners with several Fortune 500 companies and innovative consumer tech brands to deliver GenAI observability and evaluation tools. Their platform supports machine learning engineers in building robust large language model systems—focusing on data quality, model reliability, and infrastructure integration.

They’ve identified a critical gap in the GPT ecosystem—pre-RAG hallucination detection and model observability—and built a solution that integrates directly into customers’ stacks. This role will be essential in supporting enterprise clients post-sale, helping them build scalable and reliable AI applications using internal or proprietary models.

Responsibilities:

• Work directly with enterprise customers to scope, design, and build custom workflows and integrations tailored to their GenAI/LLM use cases
• Own the technical implementation of features required to help clients achieve production success
• Collaborate closely with customer engineering and product teams, as well as internal field engineers, to ensure the platform is effectively deployed and integrated
• Build backend APIs and infrastructure components to support LLM observability and deployment pipelines
• Travel to customer sites as needed to support hands-on integration and adoption

Requirements:

• Strong software engineering background with experience in backend development; ideally with time spent at an AI-focused or high-growth startup
• Python API Development
• Experience working directly with customers, particularly in post-sales or embedded engineering roles
• Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and containerized environments
• Proficiency with Python and familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites to build deeper technical alignment and project success
