About the Role:

The Senior Software Engineer is an AI-first, who will shape and evolve Signant Health's products. You will design and implement features across our mobile and web applications for clinical trials. The Senior Software Engineer will perform solution design, systems analysis, and programming activities. You will contribute to system architecture and maintain high quality standards through code reviews, testing, and production support.

Our engineers use AI tools daily for code generation, debugging, testing, and documentation — and we expect you to bring strong proficiency in this area and be just as enthusiastic as we are about the new workflows enabled by AI. Tech Stack Flexibility: While this role is expected to be Flutter-heavy, we adapt our technology choices to business needs. What you will do:

• Designs and implements features across mobile (Flutter), web and Windows (Java/Kotlin) applications, following architecture guidelines and good software engineering practice.
• Contributes to system design including component architecture, communication protocols, and integration patterns.
• Performs code and solution design reviews to ensure maintainability and quality; leverages AI-powered tools to accelerate development velocity on the entire SDLC.
• Responsible for unit testing and integration testing; performs bug verification, release testing, and production support.
• Researches problems discovered by validation or product support and develops solutions.
• Prepares technical documentation and conducts reviews to meet regulatory compliance requirements.
• Researches new technology and development tools to remain abreast of current technology, including AI-assisted development tools and emerging AI/ML capabilities relevant to product innovation.
• Coaches and mentors software engineers, including promoting improved AI-assisted development workflows across the team; evaluates and recommends AI tools that improve team productivity and software quality.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and QA to deliver robust solutions.
• Supports deployment and production operations; manages releases to Play Store and App Store.
• Coaches and mentors software engineers. In the absence of the Software Architect, capable of serving as software architect in areas of design and implementation to meet project objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

• B.Sc/M.Sc Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems.
• Minimum 5 years of software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Flutter.
• Good experience with cloud platforms (AWS).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Experience with CI/CD practices and version control systems.
• Experience shipping to both Play Store and App Store.
• AI-Assisted Development: Proficiency with AI coding assistants to accelerate development workflows including code generation, debugging, test creation, and documentation. Awareness of responsible AI usage practices including code review of AI-generated output and understanding of AI limitations in a regulated software environment.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Desired Qualifications:

• Additional languages: Java, Kotlin, Go, native iOS, and Cordova.
• Full-stack experience appreciated — backend development, not just mobile UI.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Experience working with containers (Docker, EKS/Kubernetes).
• Awareness of AI/ML concepts (e.g., LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG patterns) and ability to evaluate where AI capabilities can enhance product features or internal tooling.
• Experience integrating AI/ML services or APIs (e.g., Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Anthropic APIs) into applications.
• User-oriented approach to software development.
• Team-oriented with a can-do attitude and willingness to expand skills into new technologies.
