We are looking for a Staff Presentation Designer to elevate the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of our presentations across the organization. This person will create high-impact decks for executive communications, board meetings, marketing, investor, events and internal use while also building scalable presentation systems that help teams create stronger materials faster.

Presentations are one of the highest-leverage ways Shopify communicates strategy, product stories, business updates, and brand moments. They are where executive align teams, product leaders explain complex ideas, and Shopify shows up in front of merchants, partners, investors, and the broader company.

This is a senior, highly strategic design role for someone who is both a visual storyteller and a systems thinker. The ideal candidate can take complex or ambiguous business content and turn it into clear, persuasive, beautifully designed narratives. They should also be able to create reusable frameworks, templates, slide systems, and AI-enabled workflows that improve how presentations are created across the company.

About The Team

Shopify's Event Design team is part of Brand Design Studio, a multidisciplinary team of visual designers, writers, video creatives, and motion designers creating experiences that communicate the value of Shopify's commerce platform to its highest-growth and enterprise merchants.

Our work shows up across the highest-impact places for Shopify: product launches, global campaigns, events, executive storytelling, social, web, internal comms, and immersive brand moments. This is where Shopify’s brand becomes tangible, useful, memorable, and connected to the product.

Key Responsibilities

Consider presentations as a product. Create and evolve a vision for how this aspect of storytelling happens at the highest level in a product-driven company, beyond traditional slide decks but not excluding them. 😉
Own the full lifecycle of high-priority presentation work, from brief and narrative development through visual design, systems thinking, production and final delivery.
Design high-quality presentations for events, product demos, investor updates, executive meetings, and internal communications.
Partner with executives, marketing, sales, product, strategy, and other stakeholders to clarify goals, shape narratives, and improve the overall story.
Tailor presentation materials to different speakers, audiences, formats, and moments, ensuring each deck feels appropriate to the room, the message, and the level of visibility.
Translate complex ideas, data, product concepts, and business strategies into clear, compelling visual presentations.
Build and maintain scalable presentation systems, including templates, slide libraries, reusable components, layout systems, visual frameworks, iconography, charts, and design guidelines.
Establish clear governance for presentation assets, including how templates, libraries, components and AI assisted workflows are used, maintained, and evolved over time.
Evaluate and implement AI-enabled presentation, design, and automation tools that improve speed, quality and consistency
Use AI tools to accelerate ideation, content structuring, narrative development, visual exploration, image generation, summarization, and production workflows..
Work with design systems, engineering, and tooling partners when needed to prototype better ways of creating and maintaining decks at scale.
Create internal playbooks, prompt libraries, usage guidelines, and training materials for AI-assisted presentation workflows.
Create modular presentation assets that allow teams to assemble polished, on-brand decks efficiently.
Establish best practices for slide structure, visual hierarchy, typography, storytelling, data visualization, accessibility, and brand consistency.
Audit existing presentations and develop recommendations to improve clarity, consistency, quality, and usability.
Develop workflows that make deck creation faster and easier for non-designers while maintaining a high design standard.
Support high-priority, fast-turn presentation requests while also improving long-term systems and processes.
Coach internal teams on how to use presentation templates, Figma libraries, and AI-supported workflows effectively.
Maintain strong quality control across presentation materials to ensure accuracy, polish, and brand alignment.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who understands that presentations are not just slides, they are strategic communication tools. You should be able to shape the medium and the message, simplify content, explain products clearly, and design the visual experience. You should know how to build trust with senior leaders and move quickly through feedback without losing the quality of the story or the design.

You are comfortable moving between high-level thinking and hands-on execution. One day you may be designing a leadership presentation from scratch; another day you may be building a scalable Figma-based presentation system that multiple teams can use. You should enjoy creating beautiful work, but also care deeply about consistency, efficiency, usability, and repeatable systems.

Required Qualifications

7+ years of experience in presentation design, visual communication, brand design, marketing design, design systems, or a related field.
Strong portfolio showcasing executive, sales, investor, marketing, or strategic business presentations.
Expert level proficiency in Figma, AI, google slides expertise with strong fluency in AI assisted workflows
Experience creating scalable design systems, template systems, component libraries, or brand systems in Figma.
Experience creating presentation systems for teams with different levels of design expertise.
Experience working directly with senior stakeholders, executives, clients, or cross-functional business teams.
Comfort using AI tools to improve creative, strategic, and production workflows.
Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and deliver high-quality work under tight timelines.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency.
Motion, video, or interactive presentation experience is a plus.
