About The Role
Shop is a consumer-facing shopping platform that spans our flagship Shop app (with over 6 million 5-star reviews!), Shop Pay express checkout used by hundreds of millions of buyers, and more. This role sits within Shop Marketing, which drives awareness and adoption of Shop among buyers and merchants alike, and reports to Shop’s Head of Marketing. The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record of orchestrating marketing and creative workflows across marketing, creative, product, engineering, and UX teams, and architecting AI-powered, automated systems to scale marketing team impact and operational excellence. Ideal candidates will have held marketing and creative ops leadership roles at a consumer-facing brand or marketplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities to accelerate Shop marketing’s roadmap and creative strategies by making marketing work more efficient and higher quality over time, reducing single points of failure, and eliminating duplicative overhead.
- Design and build scalable, automated operating systems to capture those opportunities and increase team execution speed and impact
- Act as a primary liaison and workflow orchestrator across senior stakeholders from marketing, product, engineering, and UX teams
- Champion product and UX best practices within marketing projects and vice-versa
- Advise on scoping, resourcing and assembly of high-visibility, high-stakes marketing projects, and step in to solve complex problems that hinder project success
- Build and maintain centralized marketing measurement tools and systems, as well as reporting rituals, and shape Shop marketing’s internal performance narrative
- Apply your knowledge of latest commerce category trends, and marketing and creative best practices, to inform Shop marketing’s long-term roadmap
- Lead a team of marketing ops and merchant enablement employees, nurturing talent and cultivating new skillsets
- Actively learn and adapt to new AI capabilities and tools, sharing your wins (and learnings!) with colleagues
Required Skillsets:
- Experience in Commerce/Marketplace Category: Demonstrated experience leading similar functions at a consumer marketplace or shopping app company
- Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Proven ability to drive cross-functional coordination across diverse teams to achieve collective objectives.
- Emerging Technology Aptitude: Very comfortable working with emerging technologies and technical teams
- Systems Thinking: Deep expertise in thinking from first principles and applying product principles, with a proficiency in building scalable systems and automating workflows
- Resourcefulness and Efficiency: Highly resourceful with a keen ability to prioritize ruthlessly and model effective time management to maximize impact
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills to clearly articulate priorities, dependencies, and project risks, enabling quick problem resolution and alignment
- Technical Acumen: Familiarity with latest tools and technologies that expedite marketing and creative project execution and drive operational excellence
- Leadership and Influence: Ability to lead from any position, motivating teams by setting pace and rhythm, driving alignment, and attracting top-tier talent.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Ability to perform under pressure, deliver impact in ambiguous environments, and ask tough questions
