About The Role
The Partner Marketing team drives the growth engine that enables Shopify Partners to bring more Shopify to the world. We accomplish this through strategic planning, flawless execution, and continuous optimization of partner marketing initiatives across our ecosystem.
As the Partner Marketing Team Lead, you'll lead a high-performing team of partner marketers responsible for developing and executing comprehensive go-to-market strategies with our diverse partner ecosystem, including Global System Integrators (GSIs), Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and Agency partners. Your team will own the portfolio of Shopify’s most strategic partner; building comprehensive GTM plans to support our key lines of business – retail, direct-to-consumer, and B2B, delivering measurable commercial impact.
This role requires an exceptional marketing leader who can build and coach teams to excellence while identifying high-leverage strategic opportunities. You have a proven track record of developing teams that create sophisticated, multi-channel marketing campaigns focused on commercial outcomes. You excel in complex stakeholder environments and effectively navigate executive level relationships to align diverse priorities toward common objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Build, develop, and lead a team of high-performing partner marketers, providing clear direction, coaching, and development to drive next-level performance
- Strategic Vision: Define the overarching partner marketing strategy across Shopify's retail, DTC, and B2B lines of business, balancing brand building with demand generation
- GTM Excellence: Architect innovative go-to-market strategies across partner types (GSIs, ISVs, and Agencies), ensuring cohesive programs that deliver qualified leads and revenue
- Portfolio Management: Guide your team in managing a diverse partner portfolio, establishing performance frameworks and routinely assessing partner impact
- Brand & Demand Balance: Develop comprehensive marketing strategies that build Shopify's brand presence via our partner ecosystems while driving measurable demand generation
- Budget Oversight: Strategically allocate marketing budgets across partner initiatives while implementing robust measurement systems to assess program effectiveness, driving both pipeline and return on investment
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Partnerships, Sales, Product, and Product Marketing leaders to drive shared commercial objectives
- Team Development: Foster a culture of excellence by mentoring marketing managers and developing future leaders within your organization
- Executive Communication: Deliver compelling presentations and recommendations to senior leadership and partner executives
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in B2B marketing, with specific expertise in managing diverse partner ecosystems including GSIs, ISVs, and Agencies
- Track record of building and developing high-performing marketing teams, with demonstrated success in coaching team members to deliver exceptional results
- Demonstrated ability to create comprehensive GTM strategies that balance brand building with demand generation across different business lines and customer segments
- Experience leading teams that execute sophisticated marketing programs with measurable commercial impact
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with ability to navigate complex relationships at all levels including C-suite
- Strategic vision coupled with tactical expertise – able to set direction while ensuring flawless execution
- Experience informing and influencing commercial business strategy at senior levels
- Ability to thrive in uncertainty, resolve ambiguity, and lead teams through complex challenges
- Experience working with global teams and executing effectively across time zones and cultures
