About The Role
The Retail Partner Marketing Manager will be responsible for scaling Shopify's retail partner marketing programs across EMEA, driving co-marketing initiatives that bring Shopify's unified commerce solutions to retail merchants.
This role focuses on building scalable, one-to-many marketing programs for our growing retail partner ecosystem, working closely with retail Partner Development Managers and the Events team to accelerate partner-led demand and market expansion.
The primary focus is on achieving commercial outcomes through scalable retail partner marketing programs, enabling retail-focused partners to effectively position and sell Shopify's point-of-sale and unified commerce solutions.
What Success Looks Like
This role demands strong retail marketing expertise, an understanding of unified commerce and point-of-sale solutions, effective cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to create scalable programs that serve multiple partners simultaneously.
You will enable retail partners to successfully market Shopify solutions, with a particular focus on expanding into key European markets.
Specifically, success means:
- Launching co-marketing programs that generate qualified retail merchant leads through the partner network.
- Creating scalable, repeatable marketing campaigns and assets that multiple retail partners can activate.
- Increasing partner engagement with Marketing Development Funding (MDF) specifically for retail-focused initiatives.
- Growing Shopify's presence in retail markets through impactful partner campaigns, with particular focus on France and other key European markets.
- Enabling retail partners to effectively communicate Shopify's unified commerce value proposition.
- Building strong collaborative relationships with retail PDMs, events teams, and regional stakeholders.
- Providing data-driven insights on retail partner marketing performance and ROI.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute scalable co-marketing programs for retail-focused agency and technology partners across EMEA.
- Work closely with retail Partner Development Managers to align marketing programs with partner sales priorities and merchant needs.
- Collaborate with Event Marketing and regional teams to integrate retail partner marketing with event strategies.
- Manage marketing opportunities and provide consultative support to help retail partners drive successful campaigns.
- Develop market-specific programs and messaging, particularly for the French market and other priority regions.
- Own end-to-end execution of retail partner go-to-market programs at scale, measuring effectiveness and optimizing for ROI.
- Manage quarterly MDF budget allocation for retail partner programs.
- Use data and insights to inform retail partner marketing strategy, messaging, and campaign development.
- Enable retail partners with training, best practices, and resources to improve their marketing effectiveness.
- Work cross-functionally with Partnerships, Sales, Product, and Product Marketing teams to ensure alignment with retail go-to-market priorities.
- Track and report on marketing performance, including pipeline contribution, lead generation, and partner engagement metrics.
- Produce and deliver presentations to internal and partner audiences.
Requirements
- Proven track record in retail marketing, B2B partner marketing, or channel marketing within retail technology or SaaS environments.
- Strong understanding of retail and point-of-sale solutions - experience with unified commerce, omnichannel retail, or retail technology platforms highly preferred.
- Experience creating and executing scalable marketing programs that serve multiple partners or customers simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively with agency partners and retail-focused technology partners.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple programs concurrently.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence partners and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborative approach with experience working across teams (sales, product, events, regional marketing).
- Data-driven mindset with ability to measure, analyze, and optimize marketing program performance.
- French language skills at professional working level (highly preferred).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Experience with marketing automation, CRM tools (Salesforce), and analytics platforms.
- Proven ability to translate product features into compelling partner and merchant value propositions.
Nice to Have
- Experience marketing within the Shopify ecosystem or similar e-commerce platforms.
- Background working with retail merchants or understanding of retail merchant pain points.
- Experience in French or other European retail markets.
- Familiarity with retail industry trends, challenges, and buying behaviors.
- Agency-side experience or experience managing creative/content production.
- Additional European languages (Spanish, German, Italian).
- Experience with event marketing or integrating events into broader marketing programs.
- Knowledge of retail POS systems, inventory management, or omnichannel commerce solutions.
