About The Role
Shopify is looking for a Marketing Technology and Operations Lead to use their creative and technical expertise in order to convert business requirements and challenges into workable solutions, both strategically and operationally as it relates to Marketing Technology.
The right candidate is passionate about working with marketing platforms and processes, has a strong ability to think creatively about how to make our internal tools better, and must have a knack for evaluating and researching new innovative solutions. You will be leveraging your knowledge of marketing technology while being involved in technical solution design meetings, scoping out stakeholder strategic goals, documenting user stories, and enhancing the productivity of our leads and customer-facing roles across Shopify.
You’ll get to do things like:
- Quickly prototype solutions that solve key problems for Marketing and Sales teams.
- Design and improve our marketing tools and processes.
- Liaise with stakeholders across the business to learn their marketing goals and translate that vision into our MarTech stack.
- Contribute to projects from conception through execution (planning, scoping, research, functional design, testing, and rollout).
- Provide strong analytical, technical and problem solving skills to understand business needs and recommend best practices.
- Work with Product, Engineering and Design teams to design quality, scalable solutions.
- Ensure excellent change management in deploying enhancements and new features through collaboration with internal Shopify teams such as Enablement, Sales, Customer Success and Business Technology.
- Be involved in vendor evaluation as it relates to MarTech tools.
- Be a point of contact for business and technology stakeholders around prioritization, coordination, and escalation of projects and enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a Marketing Technology and Marketing Operations role or similar experience managing marketing automation platforms (e.g. Marketo).
- Ability to articulate and understand MarTech requirements as it relates to systems and infrastructure to support a GTM Revenue Engine.
- Previous working experience with CRM Platforms (i.e. Salesforce).
- Previous working experience with digital analytic systems.
- Ability to work cross-functionally to quickly implement projects.
- Be proactive and capable of seeking information independently, solving conceptual problems and delivering results.
- Ability to translate business goals into technical requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, especially to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to prioritize numerous, and competing high-priority tasks.
- Outside of the box thinker who sees opportunity in obstacles and possibilities in challenges
- A “losing is not an option” attitude and willing to come up with creative, unconventional, and unique solutions to achieve goals
And if you had these things on top of the above, we really (really) want to hear from you:
- Deep understanding of first-party and third-party Sales and Marketing technologies.
- Deep understanding of Salesforce CRM.
- Familiar with a range of additional MarTech tools (i.e. live chat, webinar and event management, lead routing, lead scoring, attribution, tag management).
About Shopify
Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries.
This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.
About You
Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.
Before you apply, consider if you can:
- Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
- Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth
- Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
- Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
- Bring critical thought and opinion
- Use AI tools reflexively as part of your fundamental workflow
- Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
- Work digital-first for your daily work
