Job Overview – Senior Fraud Data Scientist (Remote) – 33643
In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of advanced fraud detection systems at our financial software client, using analytics and machine learning to identify and prevent fraudulent tax filings. You'll collaborate across security, product, and compliance teams to develop robust, data-driven fraud prevention strategies.
You'll be responsible for:
Fraud Detection & Investigation:
- Develop real-time fraud detection systems and scoring models
- Automate rules for known and emerging fraud threats
- Conduct forensic analyses of suspicious activity
Pattern Analysis & Prevention:
- Use ML to detect evolving fraud patterns
- Analyze historical fraud cases for common indicators
- Continuously update fraud detection rules and monitor control effectiveness
Cross-Team Collaboration:
- Work with security and product teams to implement preventative measures
- Support the integration of fraud-resistant features into products
Analytics & Reporting:
- Build fraud dashboards (Power BI, Snowflake)
- Report on fraud trends, KPIs, and prevention metrics
- Deliver insights and investigation reports to leadership and legal
Requirements
- Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) in Data Science, CS, Cybersecurity, or related field
- 5+ years in fraud detection/prevention, ideally in FinTech or tax services
- Expertise in data analytics, ML, and fraud investigation
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership skills
- Languages & Tools: Python, SQL, Power BI, TensorFlow/PyTorch
- Detection Platforms: Splunk, Palantir, IP intelligence, device fingerprinting
- Other: Statistical modeling, real-time monitoring systems, project management
