Senior Software Engineer

My client, a European- wide brand are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer with experience in Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Google Cloud for a 6 month project, focusing on the development of a brand new function. You would be working in a highly capable product team with a large degree of autonomy.

This role is 100% remote, but you MUST BE BASED IN EUROPE. For UK based consultants, this role is Outside IR35.

Required key competencies and qualifications:

Required Skills & Experience;

10+ years of extensive experience in backend software development, with a proven track record of delivering complex, high-impact projects.

Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin and Spring Boot is mandatory.

Deep expertise with Cassandra or other NoSQL databases, including advanced data modelling, primary key design, and performance optimization.

Mastery of API design principles (RESTful, HATEOAS, etc.) and a demonstrated ability to implement and maintain backward compatibility in evolving API landscapes.

Profound understanding of database schema evolution and strategies for managing breaking changes without impacting existing services.

Proven experience with complex business logic implementation, ideally within pricing engines, financial systems, or similar domains requiring high precision and layered hierarchies.

Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to break down highly ambiguous problems into actionable technical solutions.

Strong independent work ethic and self-motivation; ability to drive projects forward with minimal supervision.

Experience operating in fast-paced, dynamic, or reorganizing environments, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.

Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience with large-scale e-commerce platforms.

Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices architectures.

Experience in defining architectural patterns or contributing to architectural roadmaps.

Knowledge of performance testing and optimization techniques.
