The Opportunity – Senior Staff Software Engineer (Observo.ai)
We’re seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join Observo.ai, SentinelOne’s AI-driven observability and data optimization platform. You’ll play a leading role in designing and scaling high-performance systems that handle massive telemetry data streams—improving efficiency, reducing costs, and unlocking richer insights for enterprise customers.
This is a senior-level, hybrid position based at our Mountain View, CA headquarters, where you’ll help define the architecture and strategy for some of the most advanced data systems in cybersecurity.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the architectural design and long-term technical strategy for petabyte-scale data pipelines processing telemetry logs, metrics, and traces.
- Develop and optimize ML-powered routing, filtering, and transformation systems that dramatically reduce data volume while preserving mission-critical visibility.
- Architect cloud-native microservices and APIs that integrate seamlessly with leading observability tools (e.g. Splunk, Elastic, Datadog, New Relic).
- Implement real-time analytics and anomaly detection solutions leveraging LLMs and advanced machine learning frameworks.
- Champion observability by defining robust monitoring, alerting, and telemetry practices across distributed systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, and DevOps to translate strategic goals into actionable technical solutions.
- Drive optimization across performance, scalability, cost, and reliability using profiling, benchmarking, and infrastructure design.
- Mentor and lead engineers, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing within and beyond your team.
- Evaluate emerging technologies in AI/ML, data engineering, and observability—ensuring SentinelOne stays ahead of the curve.
- Contribute to company-wide engineering standards, influencing how large-scale distributed systems are designed and delivered.
What You Bring
- 10+ years’ experience in software engineering with deep expertise in distributed systems, data platforms, or ML infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Go, Rust, or Java, with a strong grasp of software architecture, system design, and performance tuning.
- Experience with cloud ecosystems (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Proven ability to design and scale data pipelines using frameworks like Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
- Strong command of database technologies — SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
- Experience deploying and maintaining production-grade ML systems with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Expertise in observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and enterprise data standards (OpenTelemetry, JSON, Parquet).
- Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines for automation and reliability.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills; proven experience influencing architecture and driving alignment across teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Work at the cutting edge of cybersecurity and AI—solving unprecedented data challenges at global scale.
- Shape the technical direction of Observo.ai, a platform redefining how organizations handle observability data.
- Collaborate with world-class engineers, researchers, and product leaders in a high-growth, innovation-driven environment.
- Drive initiatives that deliver real-world business impact and cost savings for enterprise customers.
