Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack)

Fulltime, Remote

Must be based in Minneapolis, MN

We're looking for a seasoned software engineer to join the team working on a core ocean data platform. This role blends both front-end and back-end development and is ideal for someone who thrives on building elegant systems, solving complex problems, and working across the full stack. You’ll be expected to approach problems holistically, write clean, scalable code, and contribute to everything from architectural decisions to mentoring teammates.

Key Responsibilities

• Help architect and build a next-gen ocean data platform.
• Write clean, efficient UI components (React).
• Develop scalable backend services (Python, microservices).
• Work with geospatial datasets and complex data models.
• Collaborate with a high-performing technical team in Agile environments.
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Follow security-first engineering practices.
• Engage in collaborative problem-solving, peer reviews, and mentoring.
• Optionally lead small technical teams or initiatives.

Required Skills and Experience

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong background in cloud-native SaaS platforms (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React).
• Experience with relational databases (Postgres preferred).
• Proficiency in Linux environments and containerization tools.
• Strong debugging and system design skills.
• Familiarity with Agile development practices and pair programming.
• Prior experience leading architectural discussions and mentoring teams.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to other programming languages (C++, Java, mobile).
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tooling.
• Familiarity with geospatial tools (CesiumJS, GDAL, etc.).
• Knowledge of test frameworks (PyTest, Jest, Selenium, etc.).
