About the TeamApplied Research builds machine learning models to better understand our vast library of hundreds of millions of documents, books, and audiobooks. We build out core capabilities like spam detection, language identification, and text embeddings to deliver a better discovery experience for all our users. We’re seeking a skilled senior analyst to estimate which machine learning projects will make the biggest product impact and to evaluate the final results of projects to guide us towards hitting our team goals.

About You You are a curious person who enjoys tackling hard problems. You ask the right questions when there are many unknowns and create accurate estimates when there is no precedent. As a senior analyst, you have seen first hand that figuring out the right problems to solve can make an order of magnitude difference. You enjoy collaborating and discussing ideas with peers and stakeholders. You are excited to support a team of 5 data scientists and are motivated to learn more about ML capabilities.

You Will- Work hands-on in the data using SQL, Looker, and other tools to extract, analyze, and visualize data.- Work with experts throughout the company to figure out the right questions to ask in order to uncover new problems and solutions.- Take complicated concepts, systems, and processes and clearly communicate what matters to stakeholders.- Write and share the results of your impact estimations and project evaluations.

You Have- 4+ years experience with quantitative data analysis.- Strong SQL experience with a focus on reproducibility and readability.- Plus if you have experience doing data analysis and visualization with Python.- Highly analytical mindset with demonstrated ability to work through complex and ambiguous problems using data.- A keen interest in learning what’s necessary to solve a business problem.- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
