Staff Platform Engineer - Developer Tooling (Python)

Job Description

We’re looking for a Staff Platform Engineer with strong Python skills to help build and scale internal tools and infrastructure that support and accelerate our engineering teams. This role is ideal for someone passionate about developer experience, workflow automation, and improving engineering velocity across the organization.

You'll work at the intersection of DevOps, developer experience, and internal tooling, contributing to the design and implementation of scalable solutions that improve CI/CD pipelines, security automation, and developer workflows.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, build, and maintain developer-facing internal tools, with a focus on automation, usability, and scalability.
• Create a standardized, secure, and scalable CI/CD framework across teams, using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Build integrations for security automation, including vulnerability testing and policy enforcement within pipelines.
• Build and maintain of platform tooling to enhance developer productivity—think smart CLI tools, automated config generators, internal dashboards, etc.
• Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to ensure robust, compliant, and auditable tooling.
• Improve infrastructure efficiency, supporting both on-prem and cloud environments (AWS, Terraform).
• Support and guide engineers on tooling best practices and DevOps principles.
• Document systems, processes, and tooling to keep everything transparent and easy to use.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• 5+ years of engineering experience with a focus on Python and building developer-centric tools.
• Proven success building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows at scale.
• Strong experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD platforms.
• Solid understanding of security best practices for developer workflows and infrastructure.
• Strong familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform is a plus).
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• A Passion for improving  developer experience and streamlining engineering workflows.

PREFERRED:

• Experience with other languages (Go, C/C++).
• Background in managing hybrid (cloud + on-prem) environments.
• Familiarity with metrics/monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog).

• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
• You will be eligible to participate in Sandisk's Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.  Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan.
