Role: Digital Product Owner
Salary: Up to £58,000 + Benefits (16% pension, blue light card, healthcare)
Location: Remote first – Poole HQ – 1 day per month on site
Sanderson have partnered with a fantastic organisation looking for a Product Owner to help improve existing platforms and build new ones in order to do what their volunteers and employees do best – save lives.
Experience Required:
- Technical background, with experience of API Development and ownership of the software development lifecycle.
- Comfortable being user facing, gathering requirements and translating into feature requests for the product roadmap.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with application architecture, UX principles, and industry best practices.
- Experience with product management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Someone from a Search & Rescue or Emergency Services background would be desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Work with senior stakeholders in lifesaving and fundraising operations to understand their strategic direction, and the role of frontline service teams within that.
- Translate that strategy to a set of target capabilities for frontline teams, clearly articulating how those teams will drive and create value via technology.
- Define and communicate the vision for frontline digital products, ensuring alignment with the operational plans. Work closely with internal teams, volunteers, and external partners to gather requirements and translate them into actionable product roadmaps.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across functions and ITS to define priorities, ensuring that this is a balance of new feature development, fixes, security features and controls, and maintenance.
- Ensure that change is effectively managed across the applications lifecycle, evaluating up-and downstream impacts and applying change management processes to ensure an excellent user experience for our end users.
- Work with relevant data owners to drive and maintain an improved data quality score for the data within bespoke frontline systems, supporting data quality issues resolution as needed. Ensure that GDPR principles are considered at every stage of the lifecycle, including retention and destruction.
- Work closely with the Applications Development Lead and Digital Leads, as well as the development and digital teams, to drive agile scrum activity.
- Advocate for user needs at all times, ensuring products are intuitive, accessible, and effective. Articulate a clear and coherent way forward that recognises how the products interact with one another.
- Manage stakeholder communication and prioritisation forums to ensure that we have a collaborative, facilitated approach to ensuring that our backlog prioritises.
- Work with our architecture teams to ensure that our technology supports our architecture principles, ensuring architecture board oversight and sign-off as needed, and maintaining appropriate solution and information models.
Define and analyse key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
