Director of Marketing — Sanctuary PBC
About Sanctuary PBC
Sanctuary PBC is a survivor-led, BIPOC-founded public benefit corporation transforming how communities respond to crisis. Our trauma-informed, mobile-first SaaS platform connects displaced individuals—domestic violence survivors, unhoused students, disaster victims, and other crisis-affected populations—to safe emergency housing in real time.
Instead of relying on outdated shelter systems, Sanctuary builds the modern infrastructure for emergency housing—a data-driven ecosystem that helps first responders, municipalities, and nonprofits locate, book, and manage safe stays instantly. We are replacing chaos with coordination, and bureaucracy with compassion.
Our mission: To deliver weightless support to people in crisis—technology that restores agency, dignity, and safety when it matters most.
Position: Director of Marketing
We’re seeking a bold, strategic, and mission-driven Director of Marketing to lead all aspects of Sanctuary’s brand and growth strategy. This leader will drive awareness, adoption, and credibility among key stakeholders—city governments, first responder agencies, nonprofits, hotels, and the broader public.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the voice and public presence of a national public-benefit tech company from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a multi-channel marketing strategy that drives product adoption, partner acquisition, and brand trust.
- Translate Sanctuary’s mission and social impact into powerful narratives that resonate with both civic institutions and the public.
- Partner with executive leadership to define go-to-market priorities and positioning.
- Oversee marketing budget, KPIs, and reporting to align with growth and fundraising goals.
Brand
- Own Sanctuary’s brand identity, messaging architecture, and visual language across all touchpoints.
- Manage and expand Sanctuary’s digital presence (website, social, newsletter, etc.).
Campaigns & Partnerships
- Create integrated marketing campaigns supporting the Living Through It All Tour, product launches, and municipal rollouts.
- Build awareness campaigns in collaboration with advocacy organizations, public officials, and survivor networks.
- Collaborate with the sales team to generate leads and materials tailored to civic procurement, nonprofit, and hospitality audiences.
- Partner with tech and operations teams to ensure that marketing aligns with Sanctuary’s platform evolution and user experience.
Content & Creative Direction
- Oversee content production across formats—video, written, digital, and experiential.
- Develop case studies, testimonials, and thought leadership that demonstrate Sanctuary’s outcomes and innovation.
- Direct creative resources (in-house or agency) to ensure consistency, clarity, and quality across all marketing assets.
Qualifications
- 4+ years in marketing leadership roles, ideally in SaaS, civic tech, or social-impact sectors.
- Proven ability to scale awareness for early-stage companies or mission-driven organizations.
- Strong background in integrated marketing—brand, digital, PR, content, and partnerships.
- Exceptional storyteller with a sharp eye for design, tone, and emotional resonance.
- Experience engaging government, nonprofit, or public-sector audiences is highly valued.
- Deep empathy, integrity, and commitment to survivor-centered design and trauma-informed communication.
Attributes We Value
- Strategic Clarity: You can translate complex systems into messages that move people.
- Operational Drive: You think in campaigns, not concepts—execution excites you.
- Emotional Intelligence: You lead with empathy and respect in every partnership.
- Creative Courage: You take bold swings in pursuit of meaningful visibility.
- Mission Alignment: You believe technology should heal, not harm.

- Competitive salary with equity or performance-based incentive
- Health, dental, and vision coverage
- Opportunity to shape the narrative and impact of one of America’s most innovative public-benefit corporations
