Salt is currently hiring a Software Engineer for a client of ours in Amsterdam.
Role is paying 103 euros an hour and you require kvk/zzp. This is a 12 month contract with 1 or 2 days a week on site.
We are looking for a Software Engineer II to design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable software solutions. In this role, you will develop high-quality applications, contribute to system design, improve service reliability, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical features. You will take ownership of services throughout their lifecycle, from development and testing to deployment, monitoring, and production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software and APIs.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, with a focus on continuous improvement and refactoring.
- Own services end-to-end, including deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and implementation of long-term reliability improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to design scalable technical solutions.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, automation, and engineering best practices.
- Support continuous delivery and ensure secure, reliable, and observable systems.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong experience with Java (17+), Maven, Spring or Dropwizard, and REST APIs.
- Experience with Kubernetes, AWS (EKS, S3), GitLab CI/CD, and deployment automation tools.
- Strong understanding of API design, OpenAPI specifications, and API lifecycle management.
- Experience with unit and integration testing in CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry, and distributed tracing.
- Experience with canary deployments and modern cloud-native architectures.
Nice to Have
- Experience with GraphQL.
- Knowledge of developer documentation, SDKs, and Swagger.
- Understanding of testing strategies, security best practices, and data modelling.
- Familiarity with Perl for reading and maintaining legacy code.
