Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Medical Imaging

Salnus builds AI-powered surgical planning software for orthopedics. Our platform turns CT imaging into 3D anatomical models, alignment analysis and personalized surgical plans, developed hand in hand with practicing surgeons. We are a small, focused team based in Istanbul, working remote-friendly, with a strong documentation culture and active multicenter clinical collaborations.

Role Description

This is a full-time, remote-friendly Senior Machine Learning Engineer role focused on medical imaging. You will own the 3D segmentation, anatomical measurement and alignment engines behind our orthopedic surgical planning platform, and carry them through multicenter clinical validation. Day to day: training and evaluating 3D segmentation models, designing experiments across heterogeneous multi-center data, maintaining rigorous test-set and experiment-tracking discipline, and turning research code into production-ready components. You will mentor graduate researchers and co-author clinical validation studies.

Qualifications

• PhD in medical imaging, deep learning or a closely related field, completed or near completion.
• Hands-on experience training 3D medical image segmentation models end to end with PyTorch; nnU-Net experience is a strong plus.
• Practical fluency with segmentation metrics (Dice, HD95) and a working reflex for data leakage and test-set integrity.
• Experience with multicenter or heterogeneous imaging data is valued; peer-reviewed publications or MICCAI-style challenge participation is a plus.
• Clear communication with multidisciplinary teams; interest in regulated medical software is welcome but not required.
