Senior Engineer & Technical Product Owner, Clinical AI/Data
Level: Senior (IC-4)
Location: Remote (U.S.), Ideally EST.
Type: Full-time
About You
You’re a strategic partner to leadership, co-defining our data and AI roadmap to accelerate clinical-trial innovation.
You blend technical vision with product ownership—optimizing LLM performance, real-time retrieval, and end-to-end data flows without getting bogged down in implementation details.
You approach problems from first principles, choosing and prioritizing clinical data sources, integration patterns, and UX flows for maximum business impact.
You thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment and believe that clear communication and genuine collaboration are as critical as cutting-edge technical delivery.
What You’ll Do
1. Co-Lead Data & AI Strategy
Collaborate with the Senior Director to set the roadmap for LLM infrastructure, retrieval architectures, and data-driven features.
Define prioritization frameworks for which clinical data sources (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov, EMR feeds, internal APIs, customer data) to ingest and when.
Establish metrics and evaluation criteria for LLM cost, latency, and accuracy in clinical use cases.
2. Prototype & Optimize Workflows
Lead POCs for agentic-AI flows: multi-step LLM orchestration, vector searches, and structured-output validation loops.
Design and benchmark real-time retrieval patterns—live API vs. pre-indexed approaches—and translate results into actionable recommendations.
Sketch lightweight pipeline architectures and UX wireframes (Figma) that demonstrate data integration end-to-end.
3. Product Ownership & Backlog Prioritization
Turn stakeholder needs (Clinical Ops, Sales, Product) into prioritized epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Maintain and groom backlog in ClickUp, balancing strategic infra experiments with high-value feature prototypes.
Define data-schema sketches and edge-case validation rules for feasibility forms, IRB metadata, and enrollment predictions.
4. Cross-Functional Leadership & Mentorship
Facilitate design reviews, architecture discussions, and demo sessions—communicating both business impact and technical trade-offs.
Mentor mid-level engineers and PMs on prototype best practices, agentic-AI patterns, and data integration strategies.
Must-Have Qualifications
4+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years in AI/ML or data-science roles—ideally in health-tech or regulated environments.
Proven track record in defining product requirements (workshops, user stories, acceptance criteria) and driving roadmaps.
Deep experience architecting LLM-based systems, vector/RAG retrieval, and real-time data integrations.
Fluent in Python and Java, with working knowledge of Kotlin, containerization (Docker/K8s), and cloud deployments (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Strong full-stack intuition—able to partner on front-end flows (React/Next.js/Tailwind) and API contracts without owning every implementation detail.
Exceptional communicator—adept at distilling complex technical strategies into clear product narratives and facilitating cross-team alignment.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with our front-end stack: Flowbite, React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS.
Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain Agents, Ray Serve).
Exposure to streaming/event-driven platforms (Kafka, Pub/Sub).
Hands-on with Azure DevOps (CI/CD, IaC, monitoring) and HIPAA/SOC 2 compliance.
A proactive learner—keeps up with emerging AI-powered dev tools and industry trends.
Why You’ll Love It
You’ll play a pivotal role—shaping both the “what” and the “how” of our clinical AI platform. Your strategic vision, paired with your ability to translate ideas into validated prototypes and clear roadmaps, will be instrumental in delivering transformative health-tech solutions.
