What You’ll Do
- Database Design & Management: Architect, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable, and optimized database solutions (SQL-based, ideally PostgreSQL).
- Backend Systems Ownership: Design robust APIs and services that power our platform, ensuring high performance and reliability for pharmacy operations.
- Product Collaboration: Work closely with product and business stakeholders to identify core features and translate them into scalable backend solutions. Ask the right questions to fully understand requirements before diving into implementation.
- Startup Hustle: Embrace ambiguity and wear multiple hats. As an early-stage company, priorities can shift quickly—your adaptability and initiative will be key.
- Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship to other team members, ensure best practices, and help shape our engineering culture and standards.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3-5+ Years of Backend Experience: Proven track record designing and building backend systems at scale.
- SQL & Database Expertise: Solid background in SQL (preferably experience in PostgreSQL) and strong fundamentals in database design, performance tuning, and data modeling.
- Critical Thinking & Product Mindset: Ability to dissect complex business problems, propose logical solutions, and validate assumptions through insightful product questions.
- Effective Communication: Known for asking great questions before jumping into solutions, clarifying requirements, and advocating for best practices.
- U.S. Time Zone: Availability to collaborate within U.S. business hours and to attend quarterly onsite meetups.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Full-Stack Skills: Experience with front-end frameworks (Next.JS) and/or serverless platforms (e.g., Supabase, React) is a plus.
- Cloud Experience (AWS Preferred): Comfort working with major cloud providers, especially AWS.
- Healthcare/Pharma Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with the nuances of healthcare compliance, pharmacy operations, or related regulations.
- Startup Experience: History of working in early-stage startups, building side projects, or thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Healthcare Compliance: Understanding of HIPAA or other healthcare privacy and security standards.
- Marketplace or Logistics Experience: Experience in building systems where users can interact with multiple items, transactions, or orders simultaneously (e.g., e-commerce, logistics, or similar).
