Job Summary:
The Principal Data Scientist will support five business segments that drive significant revenue and cost savings. The role requires expertise in advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling to enhance marketing performance, optimize segmentation, and predict customer behaviors. This position will collaborate with marketing, product, and data engineering teams to ensure data accuracy, develop impactful models, and future-proof the analytics environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop predictive and consumer segmentation models using demographic, psychographic, and statistical data.
- Collaborate with marketing stakeholders to optimize campaigns, apply customer segmentation, and drive personalization strategies.
- Conduct rigorous data analysis to extract key insights for marketing, product, and client relations.
- Work with imperfect data—clean, validate, and navigate complex and incomplete datasets.
- Ensure enriched data sets are available for analytics, campaign measurement, audience segmentation, and predictive modeling.
- Investigate data discrepancies, troubleshoot anomalies, and improve data reliability in collaboration with data engineers.
- Identify and analyze trends in customer behavior and engagement.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong problem-solving mindset, ability to work in a complex, messy data environment.
- Results-driven with adaptability to a constantly changing environment.
- Experience in data pipeline development, cloud services, and working with Databricks.
- Proficiency in Python or R.
- Strong SQL experience for database querying and data manipulation.
- Knowledge of ML frameworks, algorithms, and their implementation.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools.
- Ability to build and maintain ML models.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare, insurance, or marketing analytics.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate analytics into actionable strategies.
- Prior experience optimizing marketing performance through advanced analytics.
Team & Work Environment:
- Part of the Marketing Performance Analytics & Insights Team within Healthcare.
- Team consists of 9 onshore and 3 offshore FTEs.
- The role will be within the data science sub-team, which currently has three onshore data scientists.
