About the Role
Rock Energy Systems is seeking a skilled Web Developer / WordPress & E-Commerce Specialist to manage, improve, and grow the web presence for multiple Rock Energy Systems brands. This role will be responsible for building and maintaining high-performing websites, improving user experience, integrating forms and lead-generation tools, supporting SEO strategy, improving visibility in AI-powered search tools, and developing e-commerce functionality across our brand portfolio.
The ideal candidate is both technical and marketing-minded: someone who can build clean, reliable websites while also understanding conversion rates, search visibility, analytics, customer experience, brand consistency, SEO, and emerging AI search behaviors such as LLM visibility, answer engine optimization, and generative engine optimization (GEO).
Key Responsibilities
Website Development & Maintenance
Develop, maintain, and improve WordPress websites for multiple Rock Energy Systems brands. Build responsive, mobile-friendly pages and templates using WordPress, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, page builders, and custom themes or plugins as needed.
WordPress Management
Manage WordPress core, theme, and plugin updates; troubleshoot issues; improve site speed; maintain site security; and ensure sites remain stable, backed up, and scalable.
Forms & Lead Integration
Build and maintain website forms, quote request forms, warranty forms, dealer/customer inquiry forms, and other lead capture tools. Integrate forms with email systems, CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, spreadsheets, or internal workflows.
SEO, AI Search & Website Performance
Support technical SEO, on-page SEO, metadata, URL structure, schema markup, redirects, internal linking, page speed, image optimization, and search-friendly content formatting. Improve website visibility across traditional search engines and AI-powered discovery tools by supporting structured content, answer engine optimization, LLM visibility, and generative engine optimization (GEO). Monitor site health and recommend improvements to increase organic visibility, AI search discoverability, and conversions.
E-Commerce Development
Build, maintain, and improve e-commerce functionality, including product pages, shopping carts, checkout flows, payment integrations, product catalogs, shipping/tax configuration, and conversion optimization.
Analytics & Reporting
Set up and manage Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Tag Manager, conversion tracking, heatmaps, and other reporting tools. Provide regular insights on website traffic, lead volume, conversion rates, SEO performance, and user behavior.
Brand & Content Support
Work with marketing, sales, product, and leadership teams to create landing pages, campaign pages, product pages, blog layouts, dealer resources, and other digital assets that support business goals.
Vendor & Platform Coordination
Coordinate with hosting providers, software vendors, plugin providers, outside agencies, and internal stakeholders to resolve website issues and complete digital projects efficiently.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of professional web development experience, preferably with WordPress-heavy environments.
Strong experience with:
WordPress development and administration
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
Responsive/mobile-first website development
WordPress themes, plugins, custom fields, and page builders
Form tools and third-party integrations
SEO best practices and technical SEO fundamentals
AI search optimization, LLM visibility, answer engine optimization, or generative engine optimization (GEO)
Website performance optimization
Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Tag Manager
Basic image optimization and web asset preparation
Cross-browser and mobile testing
Website backups, security, and troubleshooting
