Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior WordPress Website Designer to lead the design, development and optimization of visually compelling, user-friendly websites built on WordPress. This role requires a strong blend of creative design expertise, technical WordPress knowledge and a deep understanding of user experience, responsive design and website performance. The ideal candidate can translate business goals into effective digital experiences and collaborate closely with marketing, development and content teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build custom WordPress websites, landing pages and page templates

Lead website redesign projects from concept through launch

Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes and high-fidelity web designs

Customize WordPress themes and work with page builders and custom layouts

Partner with developers or independently implement front-end changes using HTML, CSS and JavaScript

Ensure all websites are mobile responsive, accessible and optimized for performance

Maintain brand consistency across web properties and digital assets

Optimize site architecture, navigation and user flows to improve user experience

Manage plugin selection, configuration and ongoing updates

Troubleshoot design, layout and functionality issues within WordPress

Apply SEO best practices, including on-page optimization, metadata structure and site speed improvements

Collaborate with content, marketing and SEO stakeholders to support campaign goals

Monitor website analytics and recommend design improvements based on user behavior and conversion data

Stay current on WordPress trends, UX standards and emerging web design tools

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in website design, with significant hands-on WordPress experience

Strong portfolio showcasing WordPress website design and responsive web projects

Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch or similar design tools

Proficiency with WordPress themes, plugins and page builders such as Elementor, WPBakery or Gutenberg

Solid understanding of HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript

Experience with UX/UI principles, information architecture and conversion-focused design

Knowledge of SEO, website accessibility standards and web performance best practices

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with custom theme development or working with PHP in WordPress

Familiarity with WooCommerce or other WordPress-based ecommerce platforms

Experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimization

Knowledge of Google Analytics, Search Console and related reporting tools

Understanding of hosting environments, website security and CMS maintenance workflows
