Full Stack Engineer

We are looking for a hands-on Software Engineer with strong experience in Clojure and ETL pipelines for a remote contract to hire role. This role will focus on building scalable back-end services, data processing pipelines, and integrations that support high-impact applications in the life insurance industry. You’ll work closely with product, data, and engineering teams to design, implement, and optimize systems that transform how data flows across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources.
• Build reliable and scalable back-end services and APIs in Clojure.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality applications and features.
• Debug, test, and optimize data workflows and integrations.
• Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews, and best practices.
• Mentor team members on functional programming and modern data engineering techniques.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Clojure (back-end or full stack).
• Proven experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines and working with structured/unstructured data.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, testing).
• Experience with APIs, distributed systems, or event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or similar).
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Skills

• Front-end exposure (JavaScript/TypeScript, React, or ClojureScript).
• Experience with Kafka, Datomic, GraphQL, or BigQuery.
• Background in data visualization or reporting (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
