Position: Senior Water Resources Engineer / Project Manager; Full Time
Company: River Focus, Inc. is a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) providing water resources engineering consulting services in California, Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, and Montana (and expanding to other states).
Location: Remote
River Focus is based in the San Diego, California area; however, this is a remote position and relocation is not required.
Experience Requirements: 6 to 15+ years of related water resources experience
Professional Registration: Professional engineer (civil) registration in California, Hawaii, or Alaska is preferred. The ability to obtain licensure in one of those states within approx. 6 months would also be considered.
Job Responsibilities:
Primary tasks and responsibilities for this position include:
- Conduct water resources engineering studies.
- Manage projects from cost proposal through project close-out.
- Communicate clearly with clients
- Manage and mentor EITs and other team members.
- Prepare technical study reports and technical memos.
- Perform 1-D and 2-D hydraulic modeling, including model development and calibration.
- Perform sediment transport analysis and scour calculations.
- Creatively work on complex hydrologic and hydraulic engineering projects.
- Analyze and perform hydraulic design of channels, detention basins, and other hydraulic structures.
- Perform data analysis using spreadsheets or other engineering or scientific software.
- Perform field reconnaissance visits to project sites (optional, depending on remote location vs. project locations).
- Other duties as required for water resources engineering projects.
Required Skills (Technical and Non-Technical):
A successful candidate should have the following skills:
- Knowledge of HEC models including HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Close attention to detail.
- Ability to work well independently and manage time.
- Ability and desire to work well as part of a project team.
- Knowledge of GIS software is preferred.
Education:
Master’s Degree in a water resources field (including Civil and Environmental Engineering) is preferred.
