Lead Data Scientist

Technical Lead of a team developing internal analytics and machine learning solutions to enhance commercial negotiations and optimize supplier relationship management

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and guidance to your team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment in data science landscape. You will set clear goals and objectives, empowering your team members to excel and achieve their full potential.
• Oversee the entire data science project lifecycle, from project scoping and planning to successful execution and delivery. You will manage resources effectively, prioritize tasks, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Contribute your in-depth knowledge of data science methodologies, algorithms, and tools. You will guide your team in the development and implementation of advanced analytics solutions that address complex business challenges.
• Collaborate effectively with stakeholders across various business areas to understand their needs and translate them into actionable data science initiatives. You will keep stakeholders informed of project progress and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Senior Data Scientist or a similar role.
• Tech lead experience, steering people and stakeholders (proxy-product management/leadership role). Expertise in data science and machine learning (classification, regression, and clustering), with a strong understanding of optimization and additional understanding of causal inference, data engineering practices, and data visualization techniques.
• Proficiency in Google Cloud Services (BigQuery, VertexAI – Workbenches and Pipelines), CloudRun) for data science product development.
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling and analysis techniques.
• Strong knowledge and experience using SQL and Python (with scikit-learn and TensorFlow, PyTorch, Polars).
• Experience working with large-scale datasets.
• Ability to evaluate, improve, or develop advanced machine learning algorithms for complex use cases
• Proven track record of managing the entire data science project pipeline.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across several EU countries.
• Familiarity with wholesale/retail domains as well Agentic AI (for news use cases) is a plus.
• Very good fluency in English (written and verbal) and presentation skills (showcase).
• Good knowledge of version control with Git and Poetry and scheduling tools such as Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Workflows and GitHub Actions.
• GCP vulnerabilities expertise - IAM Binding, Firewall rules, Terraform, Google Cloud Compute (Machine images).
