Job Title: Software Engineer 2 - Scheduling
Job Summary
We are seeking a Software Engineer 2 to join our team in building and evolving our cloud-native SaaS Scheduling platform. This platform powers critical appointment availability and interoperability workflows for healthcare environments. In this role, you will be a key individual contributor responsible for developing highly reliable backend services, integrating with healthcare systems, and maintaining our high standards for data integrity and security.
You’ll work primarily in a backend stack including Python, AWS (Lambdas, ECS, EC2), and PostgreSQL. You will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional partners (Product, Frontend, and Implementation) to deliver a seamless and performant experience for our users.

Specific Job Skills
Competency in backend engineering in Python (API frameworks, async patterns, performance profiling).
AWS development:
Understanding of AWS Lambda (event-driven workflows, idempotency, retries, DLQs)
Understanding of ECS/EC2 (container orchestration, service discovery, autoscaling)
PostgreSQL (or similar):
Ability to write optimized queries and manage PostgreSQL (or similar) schemas.
API design and integration:
Familiarity with versioning, pagination, and documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI).
Working knowledge (or ability to learn quickly) of:
HL7 v2 message structures and workflows (e.g., ADT, SIU)
FHIR resources and patterns
Mirth Connect channels, transformations, routing, and monitoring
Testing practices:
Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks (e.g., pytest).
Observability:
Structured logging, metrics, tracing, alerting
SLO/SLI definitions and incident response playbooks
Collaboration:
Ability to translate technical tasks from design docs and work effectively in an Agile environment.
