2. About the Opportunity:
The Sr Software Engineer will contribute to rebuilding a key crew management system as a modern application. This role involves designing, coding, testing, documenting, and implementing integrated solutions that prevent production issues and support swift resolution across teams. The position also includes mentoring engineers and promoting development best practices, leveraging modern tools such as AI-assisted development to improve delivery and system reliability.
3. Responsibilities:
• Drive technical direction and feature roadmap for large-scale cloud systems
• Serve as a technical lead guiding development teams internally and externally
• Evaluate operational feasibility and define solutions based on analysis and requirements
• Collaborate with product managers and customers to detail feature requirements
• Investigate alternatives and new technologies to support continuous improvement
• Design and implement system specifications and programming standards
• Review and validate code for quality and compatibility
• Mentor software engineers through coaching and training
• Maintain current knowledge of development tools and industry trends
• Perform other duties as directed by leadership
4. Requirements:
• Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies and technologies
• Proactive knowledge sharing in software development and testing
• Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language
• Strong communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills across teams
• Ability to clearly present ideas and provide guidance to technical and non-technical audiences
• Capacity to manage multiple assignments successfully
• Experience mentoring and leading group sessions
• Ability to influence without formal authority
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent advanced experience
• Advanced-level experience in software development and methodologies required
• Preferred experience with AWS cloud infrastructure (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, ECS, SNS/SQS, Elastic Cache)
• Preferred experience with REST APIs and Confluent Kafka event-driven architecture
• Preferred experience with Angular, ReactJS, NodeJS, Java (Springboot), Python, Hypermedia
• Preferred experience with OpenTelemetry, AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred), Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Terragrunt preferred
• Preferred experience in automated end-to-end integration and performance/load testing of microservices
• Preferred experience with Selenium, Postman, RestAssured, LoadRunner, Playwright
• Preferred experience in microservices architecture, microfrontend, serverless design patterns, and active/standby multi-region failover strategies
