Software Engineer, Product Experience

2. About the Opportunity:

The Software Engineer, Product Experience will develop product features and user experiences for clean energy buyers who require analytics and insights into renewable energy asset portfolios. This full stack role involves designing, building, and maintaining frontend and backend components of the Buyer Solutions applications. The position directly impacts the organization by enhancing tools that enable customers to manage significant energy operational expenses with greater confidence and precision.

3. Responsibilities:

• Promote a culture of well-designed systems, test-driven development, and transparent, respectful communication

• Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and engineers to create intuitive Buyer Solutions software

• Design, build, test, debug, maintain, and scale user-facing software and related components across the stack

• Integrate frontend components with backend APIs and present interactive data visualizations efficiently

• Implement backend APIs, middleware, and database integrations

• Manage user authentication and authorization using services like Clerk or Auth0

• Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability with content delivery networks

• Assess and recommend new software tools, systems, and architectures as needed

4. Requirements:

• Strong customer empathy and focus on quality user experiences

• Hands-on experience with frontend (Typescript, React) and backend (Go, Python) technologies

• Ability to translate complex requirements into functional software and communicate effectively with engineers and designers

• Commitment to delivering high-quality software on time following best practices

• Ongoing engagement with current technologies, tools, frameworks, and generative AI tools in daily work

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher, not limited to STEM fields

• Senior or Staff level software development experience

• Proven leadership in high-performing product engineering teams

• Expert programming skills in Typescript and Go; advanced Python experience preferred

• Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers (using Buf’s Connect SDK)

• Deep knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and blob storage (e.g., GCS or S3)

• Experience with UI kits, design systems, and component libraries

• Strong UI/UX design intuition

• Understanding of content delivery networks and edge server solutions

• Generalist approach across the product engineering stack

• System design and architecture expertise

• Agile technical project management skills

• Ability to work flexibly in shifting, high-pressure environments

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• Base salary range is $150,000 to $240,000+

• Compensation decisions consider level, skills, market conditions, experience, certifications, and organizational needs
